Do you really think a cup game will get someone into the first team? That's pretty much locked baring injuries and suspensions. They will get a chance to do that on the training field.
I would not say they was unmotivated as such but your mindset is affected by your opposition, that's why we see giant killings. Games like yesterday are not challenges as such like some games are. Yes it be nice to see the motivation in all games but that's not always possible, they are humans not machines. Out attacking midfield remains a nice problem, we are spoilt for choice. But that means a careful and constant appraisal of who is on form. Salah hasn't had much of a chance, but the remaining five (I include Fabregas as an attacking midfield player) have all had great games at some time or other. Hazard went off the boil for a while, now it's Oscar. But I still think Oscar will make the grade, but to me he appears to be unsure of his exact role in Jose's line-up. Up front, Costa has been a revelation. Not only scoring goals, but his ability to link up with Fabregas, Hazard and Willian has been incredible for a player who only joined us a few months ago. But Remy needs some game time, I really don't think the Drogba experiment will ever work..as much as I love the guy. Perhaps you're right and everything can be sorted out in training sessions and practice matches. But I've always thought that competive games were important, even against mediocre opposition. |

I don't think our team is set in stone by any means. There's nothing to choose between our two world class keepers. It's two out of three for the full back positions. I have a feeling we may have to look at our CB's before the season is out, they don't look as rock solid as they did previously. I've mentioned Matic many times, if he goes missing it will be a major set-back.

Perhaps you're right and everything can be sorted out in training sessions and practice matches. But I've always thought that competive games were important, even against mediocre opposition. JT and Cahill are secure, Yes it not been to our normal standard but thats sort of to be expected with the changes of style and tactics, I dont see anyone of them changing this season and think they deserve some time to get use to no Cech behind them and a completly different team set up in front of them, Attacking options might swap around every so often but I think if the Champions League final was tommrow and everyone was fit the team would not differ that much if we get there at the end of the season (and everyone was fit), Jose while yes reacts to what is happening on the pitch but also would have had the "first" team players in place a long time ago and would have been working with those players accordingly. Remy will get cup games and maybe some of the bottom 2 teams due to Costa's fitness issues and will get semi decent amount of goals but in those games I want to see Hazzard play and take responsibilty for getting the goals in those games. Costa is our goal scoring machine and will get all the important goals for us (first goals,Winners when drawing etc) but we are fast approching the time when Hazzard needs to stop having the potentiol to be one of the best or a exciting prospect and become the player his talents demands he becomes. This season or next has to be "the" season for him. Its very difficult to have a competive game when the team your playing is medicore. Even the fans was not really up for the game as much as they would be if playing a better team. Season ticket holders was selling their £25.00 for a tenner (and some even giving them away if you met them at a location near to them), It was not a money issue as they had already bought the ticket. It was like "CBA" I go if i cannot get rid of the ticket, If we are thinking "Bolton,League Cup muh" and even at the game 9/10 songs was nothing to do with the players on the pitch or who we was playing and quite a few only there because they could not give the ticket away I dont think we can really have a go at the players for not really being as up for the game as they would be for other games. Its the price of sucess, Dixon,Bumpstead,Nevin etc would have been up for the game and the fans would have been as it would be a good chance of winning something |

The fan in me would not be that unhappy if he was at City when they came to the bridge as if he thinks the reaction at City was special then he would be blown away by the one he would have got in the bridge. I have seen a article (and this is why I hate the written media) attacking Lamps for not celebrating when scoring at the weekend, What a sad bitter little man the person who wrote it, It was in the telegrath and I am willing to bet the so-called reporter was either a Spurs or Liverpool fan |

Great result, need to keep up the pressure and build on our early lead.
Costa looking like a fantastic buy, even more amazing is that he isnt fully fit and carrying an injury but still banging them in! He looks made for the premier league. |

Not a bad performance at all, 3 different scorers and a clean sheet against a decent team. Controlled the game well.
Not completely there yet but we getting there just in time for a series of tough games. Hard to single anyone out for a outstanding performance or a poor one, the whole team played well which is always good to see. |

Only saw the MOTD highlights of our game, as I went to the Southampton match with a mate yesterday. So everyone played well then?
Good to see Oscar and Willian chipping in with goals - they need to do it more often. Looking forward to us playing the Gooners, but it's frustrating that there's another international break after next weekend. I just hope Spain don't call up Costa so he can rest that hamstring. |

Things I noticed from the game, brana concentrated on defending and rarely crossed the halfway line. This free'd up Willian to go forward more, and he was a constant annoyance to the opposition. His best game this season. Oscar is slowly getting back to his best. Could have had three. Hazard was unplayable at times, can go past people for fun. Loved his back heel for azpi to cross for the goal. And as for Costa, what a player. He is always looking to score, on another day could have had 4 or 5. Wonderful start to his career with us. Defence was solid, nice to see courtois keeping a clean sheet. If we could combine courtois and cech we would have he perfect keeper. I guess he will start making better decisions as he progresses. His catching for crosses is tremendous. |

Trust me, Twickenham will never happen. I used to live there and residents would go into orbit so the council would never agree to it.

But as you say, I can't see it happening anywhere around here. |

From what I have heard there is no event limit (as there is for other such venues) for there so really it would be up to the venue. They could hold a major event every week if they so wished
While the council/locals not being happy of course would be a concern for the owners it would not be a deal breaker, If enough money is offered the owners would go for it |

Just can't see it happening every other week. Would be ideal for me if agreed mind.

The twickenham debate has proved interesting. It just strikes me as snobbery.
Wembley is an awful place to get to, |
