I don't get the hate on schurrle. He needs games
Nobody is hating on him. Merely pointing out that it's a bit ridiculous that a world cup winner, known for being wildly inconsistent for us, couldn't even manage to perform against a league two team. If he wants more matches then he needs to perform when he is given the chance regardless of the opposition.

Put him in a very good team (with very good players) and with games he will perform.

With not many games and put him with a pretty decent team (which was what he played with yesterday) and it dont matter who you are playing against its less likely to happen.

You are never going to discover anything about players from games like last night when you dont play your first team and send them out with the same mentality as you would if it was your nearest rivals

I've said this before, playing well in a cup game won't guarantee them a first team spot, but playing poorly will justify their continued exclusion. If Schurrle/Salah etc aren't mentally prepared to play to do their best every time they're given the chance then they simply have no right to be anywhere near the first team.

That's the mentality Mourinho used to have. I haven't seen any interviews from last night but I'm willing to bet he wasn't happy with either of them.

Asked about the performances of Mohamed Salah and Andre Schurrle, who were particularly poor, Mourinho's countenance exuded disappointment.

He preferred to praise others. “I think I had on my four players that played on Sunday (Drogba, Gary Cahill, Filipe Luis and Oscar) and they were an unbelievable example for others. They were absolutely brilliant.'' So were others. “When you have Petr Cech and Jon Mikel Obi not playing regularly, they come here and give great example of professionalism.”

He wasn't happy about playing Sunday and then Tuesday either.

Chelsea for the league and CL double? Chelsea have the squad, but we're not even a quarter of the way through the season yet!

It's just nice that the team have confidence.

We are slowly getting that air of winning, or looking to win every game. Opponents are beaten before we kick off.

let's put on a clinic at qpr today, is Costa back? Really looking forward to the game.

The league title may be Chelsea's to lose, but the CL trophy will go to Bayern Munich Chelsea don't stand a chance this year. Pep has his eye on the trophy,

Hopefully Costa will be back, there are photos of him training this week. Perhaps give him an hour then bring on Drogs ? Ramires will be avaiable as well, I always feel happier when he's in the squad, but I know a few here are not so keen on the guy.

The CL is still a cup competition, and we know from experience thay the best team doesn't always win it. Mourinho knows how to win one-off games, probably as well as any other manager I can remember. We've got a decent chance, but we're probably still vulnerable if we lose a couple of first choice players. Matic and Terry spring to mind, we need those two for big games.

Yep, he was missed last week at Old Trafford. Even if he hadn't started, he would've been an invaluable player to bring off the bench in a game like that with the energy that he provides.

Good to have Costa back.

Like they didn't stand a chance in 2012?

A good first half.

We had to fight too hard for this win, but I will take the points.

Hazard was outstanding, and oscars goal was simply perfect

Close! Thought Schurrle was very good when he came on. Oh ye of little faith! He's a world class player.

Maybe Ramires from the start instead of Willian, with Fab' further forward?

Why would we take off Willian? He runs all day, gets forward and tackles back.

Especially against a weaker team.

Are you a Chelsea supporter tip top?

I am. Willian put some good balls into the box, and on a better day, Costa might have got on the end of one of them. Chelsea looked vulnerable on the counter though and holes appeared in front of the back four late on.

Didn't see the game..again. Just watched MOTD, great finish by Oscar, that really was a bit special. I must admit, despite all the expert views, I did think our penalty was a bit soft. Shoulder charge right on the edge of the penalty area, was it in Hazard's back ? I'm not so sure. But I'm glad the ref gave it.

Martin Keown said Chelsea could be the best Premiership side ever ! Blimey, even as a Chelsea fan I wouldn't go that far just yet.

Chelsea could be the best side ever, but they are far far from it at the moment.

We do have players I love watching , like hazard, oscar, matic, fabregas and Costa though

Chelsea have often struggled in November after very good starts to the season. Will it happen again? I doubt it. Mourhino will be careful to instill the required discipline.

I agree that Oscar has been playing very well recently, but think his performances should be judged over a whole season, including the middle of winter against tough, well disciplined, physical sides who dig in / park the bus.

MOTD commented that the Chelsea squad is the best team the PL have ever seen. Maybe, but again it's too early to say. Trophies are needed and consistency over a whole season. It's looking good so far though.

It's also nice to see some young home grown players coming through.

MK saying were the "Best team ever" is silly considering how badly we played on Sat, plus our seeming inability to put lesser teams away, not to mention failing to keep a clean sheet.(again)

Keown in terrible pundit shocker!

We got the three points from a team who parked the bus.

Typical media comment to hype brand premiership.

We are a million miles from being the "best team ever". We are playing well in places and have improved from last season but we still have a long way to go before we can even say we are the best team this season. Let's not get carried away and lazy (something that sort of happened at the weekend).

We are going in the right direction but we been there before and shot ourselves in the foot
