Careful, you know what pride comes before.
as a Chelsea fan, I know only too well not to celebrate before the ball is over the line.

however,
I do like that the media is announcing us as the best ever team, that we can win the league unbeaten, invincible.

do I believe that? absolutely not. we have only been scraping narrow wins, and are far far from playing well.

but it does mean that our opponents are starting to think that they cannot win, beaten before they take the field, and teams not expecting to get any points out of us. just what fergie and united had.

if we can nurture this, it will be worth 15 points a season

Very sensible analysis I must say. In my view Chelsea are only looking so good this season because all the other top teams have managed to self-destruct. They are certainly not unbeatable, but now have an aura of invincibility about them, so teams are scared to play them. Mourinho knows this too well. It should be an easy league win because everyone else is so shite, not because Chelsea are playing great.

Costa scores winning goals, Aguero scores goals in loses.

End of the season Costa will have more important goals then Aguero

Aguero has played in all of City's PL games, Costa missed a couple of ours. Aguero's tally also includes two penalties.

Having the top goalscocer means sweet FA, Costa might be 2nd or 3rd top scorer this season but what he will do turn 1 into 3 and 0 points into 1 points etc.

IMO he will be the top "important" goalscorer this season

Yep, as long as he fires us to winning the league then we'll all be very happy. If he happens to win the golden boot in doing so, then that's just an added bonus.

Indeed, winning the league is all that matters. Anything else that comes our way would be a bonus.

Looking at the upcoming fixtures after the damned "International break" we have games against West Brom at home and Sunderland away. In the same period Man City play Swansea at home and Southampton away. Arsenal have Man Utd at home in the same period.
I dont't like tempting fate, there's still a long way to go, but it is looking good for us.

we have been going really well.
Have been to both Manchester clubs Liverpool and Everton and have got 2 draws and 2 wins. Those hard away matches out of the way well before the new year.

Agree with The_dont Costa will score important goals and turn the 0 and 1 points into 1 and 3 points. He is what we missed Big Time last year. He has been a great signing for us and hope this can continue.

But for me the most important player (and my favourite new player) is MATIC he has been immense for us. Sometimes watching him it's almost as if he is not even breaking sweat, if you know what I mean!!!!!!!!!! Please Matic just stay fit.

You look at the fixtures we've had so far too, a tougher start than any of our rivals. It feels good to have the trips to the Etihad, Anfield, Old Trafford and Goodison out of the way already. Man City have most of their harder trips to come.

On another note, I usually hate the international breaks especially when we're going well, but this time it could be a blessing. Hopefully the break will benefit Costa with shaking off his niggly hamstring problem.

Reus to Chelsea in part exchange for Schurrle? Imo Schurrle is world class, but there's something not quite working out for him at Chelsea. Still worth a minimum of £20 millionan. I'd argue £25 million considering he's young and the big impact he had at he world cup. Schurrle + £5 million for Reus?

I am not too familiar with Reus but I would definately question your comment that Schurrle is world class. Don't see that in him myself..

it depends how you define world class.

did he play a big part in a world cup winning team? absolutely.

but it's all personal opinion, as I recall someone placing in this forum that hazard is "far from world class".

I would keep schurrle. he is only a young man

The Sun isn't renowned for its accuracy but in this case I think Schurrle will be sold. As mentioned, it's nothing personal, and he's a world class player imo. Reus or Khedira is my bet and preferably Reus.

I think signing Reus would improve Chelsea. He's the finished article, he has terrific pace, takes on defenders and can shoot with either foot. His goals per game ratio is excellent for a midfielder/winger.
Schurrle might eventually get there, but his form has been pretty patchy. Reus apparently has a release clause of €25m, and wants to join Chesea if you believe the reports. He's also only 25, just a year older than Schurrle. Sounds like a good deal to me, but it may be just media speculation with little else to report at the moment.

True, could be just speculation, but imo Schurrle has rarely looked totally happy at Chelsea and considering how well he has played in the Germany team (world champions!), never to have had an extended run in the Chelsea team seems a bit strange.

He has been ill recently, and I'm not knocking him, as I still think he is a world class player at his best.

He's definitely a notch up from De Bruyne, and Chelsea got £17 million + for De Bruyne when they sold. Shrewd business.

Better than Schurrle? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO0gQEEAe5A

You decide. Don't say I'm not democratic!

To be fair, Schurrle's Youtube videos before he arrived at Chelsea were very good, and he hasn't exactly flopped at Chelsea. Underachieved? Probably, but he usually looks up for a big game.

Yes, Reus is impressive. I'm not so sure he's a priority signing for us though. He also wouldn't be eligible to play for us in the Champion's League, and neither would Schurrle if he went to BD in part exchange.

The only advantage in signing Reus in January would be that there is less likely to be a bidding war then than waiting until the summer. It's also difficult to see who he would replace. We know how much importance Jose puts on a player's defensive game, and I doubt that is a strong point with Reus. Of course that's something he could work on, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Willian remaining first choice even if we get him.

Reus would be an exciting prospect, but I would sooner see us sign another defensive midfielder as a partner or backup to Matic, plus another quality central defender in case Zouma doesn't make the grade. Or wait until the summer and get Pogba.

Please please stop talking rubbish just because it's another team. It's a waste of time and adds nothing to intelligent debate

No thanks to re-signing Mata (not that we're even looking to do it but as a hypothetical to what codeblue said). Mourinho's been vindicated in selling him, and I say that as someone who questioned it at the time.

I agree with RichmondBlue that a partner to play alongside or cover Matic and another centre-back should be our main priorities.

We need to look at wages when it comes to signing players as well as the fee. Its no use signing someone for a decent fee if we going to give them silly money every week. We have shipped out alot of big earners and really have JT,Cech,Mikel and maybe Brana left on the silly money (due to them being senior players).

Mikel and Ivanovic are on fairly modest salaries, Terry and Cech are both on high wages. But we're still having to compete with the other big clubs, Hazard, Costa and Fabregas are our highest earners, and Oscar will probably have had an increase with his new contract.
Still, Arsenal overtook us in paying wages for the first time in more than a decade, so things are going in the right direction.
