Thoroughly enjoying this performance. Lovely chest down and finish by Costa for the first goal.

Shame not to add more goals in the end, the second half didn't match up to the first half but it was a very comfortable win and nice to keep a clean sheet for a change.

Second half a bit of a non-event. Comfortable win.

Another professional job done (something the other title contenders seem to be unable to do)
If it was not for Foster it could have been a very good day for us. |

De Gea is a strong contender for goalie of the season already. |

Terrible challenge by Yacob, it could have ended Costa's career. Then Robbie Savage comes on MOTD and doubts it was a red card..what a total arsehole.

Yes, it would have been better if we could have added a couple more goals to reflect our domination. But I doubt Mourinho is too bothered, today was the start of a run of 8 games in 24 days, thats a punishing schedule. We did what we needed to do and hopefully avoided any injuries.

To be fair, both Lineker and Shearer told him he was wrong. Def red card.

The ref had a but of a mare. He missed the elbow by Dawson on Costa too. One thing that annoyed me, is the ref missed some other offenses in their penalty box. If a defender gets the ball in a tackle, but his speed and follow through takes the man as well, that's a penalty! If you get the ball, what happens after is not a free for all. |

Schalke v Chelsea
Tuesday 25th November, 7.45 p.m.
A potential banana skin this one, and it's not a definite or even probable win despite Chelsea's very good form at the moment. It's Europe, and it's a different approach to a PL game as Chelsea know, and as Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers and Man city are struggling to understand this season. Approaches to European games ave very different to preparation for PL matches. Having said that, Chelsea have a huge amount of experience there both in terms of their squad and their coaching / management staff. Thankfully, Mourhino and his staff won't be taking any chances with this match. Firstly, Chelsea can't afford to lose, and if they do, it could be the Europa league next season. A draw is OK, and that's the mindset they need. Go for the win, but don't over commit and risk losing the match. A draw won't be great, but it won't be a disaster either. Will Roberto Di Matteo want to prove a point? He'll say no, it's just like any other game, but in reality yes, he'll want to prove a point, and I think Schalke will be 100% up for this one and very difficult to beat. Di Matteo showed at Chelsea that he was very good at winning one off games, and setting a team up to defend against very good attacking sides. His use of Bertrand in front of Cole was sublime when Chelsea won the CL. Having said that, while he could tweak a very good existing team, while keeping the core the same, he showed he couldn't manage a major transition the way Mourhino has, and that's why he's not in charge at Chelsea any more. Imo, Chelsea need to cautiously attack, not over commit, be very, VERY wary of Schalke's counter, and utilise the fact that they have better individual skill compared to Schalke and use that skill. Hazard, Costa, Fabregas, Oscar, Willian, etc. Plus, very good physical presence and tactical sense. Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Ivanovic, etc. On paper it has to be a Chelsea win. My prediction. Schalke 1 v Chelsea 2. Come on the Chels'!

It will be a tough game, Schalke are strong at home. They've lost Julian Draxler for the rest of the year, that will be a big miss. I agree with you Tip top, keep it tight and wait for our chances. A draw would be enough barring some freak results, but we really want to get this over and done with tonight.

Three nil and cheese could have had five.
I think Jose will settle for slowing it down, no more goals, dominate possession like at wba and just play it out, resting the players for the next game. The perfect away performance, winning the group and concentrating on the other competitions. I think our team is starting to get the opposition to think they are not going to get anything, even before kicking a ball. |

Yes, a lot easier than I thought it would be. Schalke's heads have dropped, their keeper's having a mare. Perfect for us, Mourinho could rest a couple of players now, but I doubt if anyone wants to come off.
