A poor display overall from Chelsea against a weak Villa side, but they got the 3 points and that's what winning titles is about.
The main reason imo for the poor performance was Drogba, who had a stinker. Age, lack of match fitness? Not clear, and he's had some good games this season. There was no fight, no real desire and the play often broke down when he was involved. It only takes one misfiring player to affect the whole team.
From the start I couldn't understand why Remy and Zouma had been dropped. Both players have been playing very well, and Mourhino got away with a few bad decisions today.
A win is a win though. Cuadrado looked good and Willian had a very good game. Ivanovic made the difference yet again. What a player! Blue blood.
Effectively 8 points clear now (with goal dif') but still a long way to go.
Good set of results for us so far this weekend, if West Ham can get something from their game with United it will be almost perfect.
Looking at the upcoming fixtures, I'm beginning to feel confident...which is unusual for me. Can't take anything for granted though, as Man City found out against Hull. Never easy against sides fighting fot PL survival and probably 8 or 9 teams are still in that mix. We will need to scrap for points, but we've become a lot better at doing that with Mourinho.
Let's face it, the season is going very well, and the future's looking pretty good as well. Some very promising players coming through. E.g. Bamford and Atsu. Imo, Bamford at least will be in the first team squad next year and looks ready for the PL.
Was looking like being a very frustrating evening, but what a relief to finally make the breakthrough with Willian's goal. The more I see of Zouma the more I'm impressed with him, and Cech justified his selection too with some important saves.
