I see Bertrand Traore has been loaned back to Vitesse. Shame we won't have the chance to see him again in pre-season.

Rather he got a proper pre-season then just playing at a pre-season with us for just the sake of it.

Jose will have a good idea of what players he will and wont use this season already. No point him coming on a pre-season with us then joining a team on loan and being behind the rest of his team mates

I really struggle with you Dixie. You live in an old fashioned football bubble that disappeared long ago.
Are you really saying that if Brazil win a home World Cup they will be forgotten ? Absolute nonsense. They will all be immortalised by Brazilians at home.
Sorry but football really is about winning. All that praise Liverpool got last season amounted to nothing in the end. Bet they wished they parked the bus once or twice now.
I'm saying this is the worst, most boring, ugly, anti everything they became loved and famous for the world over by neutral football fans. The unprecedented amount of stick they have been getting in the media and from neutral fans across the world backs me up 100%!!!
They have had the massive advantage of playing at home and all the luck in the world to go with it! Lets not forget they were 2 inches from going out against Chile and got through by the skin of their teeth against Columbia.
To be fair though, all of the final four are fairly ordinary when compared to some of the really great teams they've had in the past.

Yet on the whole, this has generally been considered one of the best World Cups for a long time ? I agree, there's not been one outstanding team, but to make up for that we've seen a few great games and some fabulous individual performances.
As for creating memories, there's still the semi-finals and final to go. There is still time for a game that will live in the memory for ever. Looking back at old tournaments, it's usually been the odd memorable moment that stands out. The occasions when a team has been fantastic throughout are few and far between. Brazil a couple of times, Holland (despite losing the final) France and Spain. I'm struggling to think of any more, and even a couple of those had the odd mediocre game.
Who knows ? this could still turn out to me Messi's World Cup. A couple of breathtaking performances and it will never be forgotten.

Last Brazil game we saw the best of Luiz. Brilliant.

I've just seen the worst 45 minutes of defending I've ever seen, plus two elbows that should have been reds.

I still love the player, but I guess this is why he could not play for us at the back.

You're wrong - Luiz is the future of football. The fact he's so criticised over here just goes to show why England are always so shit.

For me Luiz is someone that is going to be something special.

No he will never be able to replace JT because they are very different type of players who play a very different type of football and have different skill sets. He is not a "English" defender. He offers something in many different areas of the park. I can see him forming a very good partnership with Matic and being played in a slightly different way like he did against City.

This is a guy I am expecting to see in the "team of the year" for many years to come. I can see him having a stella world cup. He has already attracted some massive clubs even after the idiots who for some reason are paid actual money (personaly I would not give them monopoly money) to comment on our game for being a "playstation player". If we lose this guy it will be another player we will regret selling.
You guys were nearly right. He's been drinking Stella at the World Cup.

People criticise him because he is a poor defender. The fact he's a decent technical footballer is immaterial.

He's about as world class as Fred is.

Shocker, really glad we sold Luiz now!

Willian and Ramires were hardly in the squad(thankfully), but i have to admit that Oscar wasn't great either. Hulk and Fred were terrible, bizzarre that Scolari still sticks with them. Defending obviously absolutely awful too! Oscar nowhere near as good as James, Messi, Kroos, Robben and the other number 10s in the WC. I hope he can regain his form.

Poor Luiz, he's going to need counselling after that match. He was completely distraught. Hopefully the PSG check has cleared already. I still think he's a great footballer, just had a bad day at the office.

I groaned when I heard Luiz was going to be Brazil captain. He's a good player off his own back, but not when he's trying to 'lead' others. Feel for the Brazilians tonight, Germany were just uber efficient.

I suspect he'll be thrown straight in, but Oscar should be made to work his way ahead of Willian-Hazard-Schurrle IMO. He's been poor for too long.

I do hope the past month will put an end to the constant Hulk rumours. Sadly, I still expect him to sign for us one day

Jose's probably raising a glass to an absolute gift from PSG. A pity we can't sell them Anderson.

Three goals for Chelsea players though.
Two from Schurrle, including that fabulous second goal, and Oscar took his opportunity well.

For all the criticism of Luiz, the game was effectively over in a seven minute spell. After that he had two choices, damage limitation of bomb foward and try to rescue some pride. Being Luiz, he chose the latter.
I've said from the start, I couldn't understand Scolari picking Fred. His scoring record isn't bad, but he offers nothing besides..and I mean nothing. For most of the time, a cardboard cut-out would have been just as effective. Then bringing in Maicon was strange, a once great player who is now so slow he makes Mikel look like Usain Bolt.

Oh well, it's not our problem. I'm sure our players will get over it, and they will really have something to prove after that humiliation. Except Schurrle, he might have a winners medal and be rated in the £40m bracket.

I actually forgot about Schurrle! he scored a fantastic goal and looked really good when he came on, but Brazil weren't putting up much opposition. No doubt Schrulle is a good player, would be good to see him get a bit more game time next season.

Schurrle was impressive, just as he was against Algeria when he came on. Took his goals well.

Luiz showed why some of us were so keen for that PSG transfer to go through.

Oscar needs a proper rest after 4 years in a row of being involved in summer tournaments. It would probably be in the club's and his best interests if he has a few weeks off at the start of the season.

Worrying for Chelsea that the spine of that Brazil team was Chelsea players.

That Brazil team had a Chelsea heart, and that heart was destroyed by an ordinary German team.

^ Not at all, considering only one of our players was even in their starting line-up. Try harder next time.

Not really. Game was effectively over by half time when Ramires came on, Willian had even less time..about 20 minutes ? Oscar was disappointing, but he hasn't looked his old self since the first game. He'll be back, players don't go bad overnight..unless you're named Torres.

I thought we'd done well when we got that amount out of you for Torres... but you've done even better! I know Luiz played well in midfield in some big games last season (including against us) but he's far too error-prone to be a reliable defender.

Think in last week or so we seen both sides of David luiz and think Chelsea have got an excellent deal in getting 50. ? Million for him because he certainly isn't a 50 million
Player
Having said that felt for him last night in being captain in
Brazil's worst ever result and at home In world cup semi final

It's not over for them.

I have a feeling they will get drubbed on Saturday in e third place playoff. That defence against rvp and robe nor against messi and arguero.

It's another 7 nil

That's true. They will probably have to draw lots to find a team, short straws play.
I don't usually bother watching the third place play-off, but it's now taken on a whole new meaning. I wouldn't like to face the wrath of those Brazilian supporters, after the game the population appeared shell-shocked, but that could soon turn to anger.

Not really, Oscar was our only player in the starting line up. However, the England team that whimpered out at the group stage without winning a single match in a poor group had a Liverpool heart. You must be concerned.
