What can you say ? Shocking defending, but it's not just been a couple of isolated incidents, we were poor against Southamton as well. Matic is still off his game, and perhaps we've relied on him too much ? We appear to get jittery every time Hull get anywhere near goal, again that's same as the Southampton game.

For all our possession, pretty little flicks and backheels, it's Hull who look the more likely to score.
Edit..glad to be proved wrong !

HUGE win!!! Stunning triple save from Courtois!! I just love the way how Luis is so calm in possession - it makes a huge difference in our game. Glad we got the 3 points in the end!

Phew..we needed those 3 points. We made it difficult for ourselves and Hull were probably unlucky not to get something out of the game. Nice easy game against Stoke next, Eva will be busy, I wonder if she wants any help ?

Yeah huge 3 points after dropping 2 and City winning, we can be 9 clear if we win our game in hand, you'd have to feel that should be enough to get us the title.

Games like today will be a massive help to this team two or three years down the line.
You learn more from games like this then you do from games where you win 4-0 |

Great win today, not a great performance though. We were a lot better going forward today but the defense was poor. Cahill get's a lot of criticism but he is getting no help from Ivanovic, it's like he is defending for 2 people at times. The 2nd half was much better defensively though. Apart from the time where Courtois had to make a triple save, we had control in that 2nd half.
I wish Mourinho would stop having his favourites. Ivanovic has been defending really poor for some time now, it's time to play Azpilicueta at RB and Luis at LB permanently. I also think that next season we can't have Ramires and Willian as 2 of our main 11. Willian may have set up the goal today but he had another really poor game, same with Ramires. They are weak, they give the ball away, they can't take the ball past any players and they can't pass the ball well. Also, has anyone seen the reaction from the Dailymail towards Gerrards stamp ? they are actually making excuses for his stamp. The same awful paper ripped Diego Costa apart just for trodding on Can. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...gers-side.html |

He was losing the ball constantly - was he always this physically weak? It doesn't help that Matic has been off form lately; hopefully in the summer we can find an adequate back-up for him. |

What is interesting, is the reaction to skertels deliberate stamp on the United keeper at the end of the game. Completely missed by the ref, like the Costa one, will the sky pundits on its 24 hr rolling channel, the commentators on radio and the gutter press whip up a frenzy so the fa have to act retrospectively?
It will be a good gauge to see if Jose is right about them! |

Watching the Canoville documentary reminds me of how good a player he was.
Would love to say the same about how awful things was for players like him. But forgetting is impossible Truly fantastic player and one who really should be remembered more not just by Chelsea fans but by fans from all clubs. Never was bitter about anything and had ever reason going to turn his back on football and Chelsea and never did. |

Lots of sympathy in the media today regarding Gerrard and his stamp, simply describing it as his "passion". If that were costa or terry, the fleet street knives would be out.
Thinking back about yesterdays game, we just managed to scrape over the line. It was ivans worst game for us in a long time. We have two other outstanding fullbacks in Azpi and Luis, is it time to play both for a few games? This season Ivan has been fantastic in terms of getting forward, but he relies on Willian on the right to cover for him. When Willian is beaten or is in the wrong place it gives teams an easy counter attack and exposes Cahill. It is little wonder that the problems Cahill has been having this season also correlate to the advancing ivan! |

quoted from the United thread (source F365)
"Tabloid headlines on the morning after Diego Costa's stamps versus Liverpool: Costa's Shame (Daily Star), Dirty Diego (The Sun), Headcase (Daily Mail), Stampford Bridge (Daily Mirror). Tabloid headlines on the morning after Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel stamps: I'm Sorry (Daily Star), Gerro: All My Fault (The Sun), I'm Sorry (Daily Mail), I'm So Sorry (Daily Mirror). Martin Samuel in the Daily Mail even writes 'it is possible to have sympathy for Gerrard's misguided desire.' He just 'wanted it too much' apparently. Diddums. While Gerrard escaped criticism, Neil Ashton still managed to refer to Costa as a 'hot-head' whose performance against Hull on Sunday was 'full of sly digs and elbows'. Ashton also, of course, mentions Costa's stamp against Liverpool. Alan Smith went even further in The Times, devoting two thirds of a page to explaining why Costa 'has no need for his ugly streak' but just 65 words to Gerrard's stamp on Herrera. Anyone would think there was some sort of campaign against Chelsea... " -------------------- Its all very interesting indeed. It is hard not to have sympathy for Jose and Costa with the evidence from todays media. There clearly is a bias. Is it club based, nationality based im not so sure, but it certainly exists. |

Well tbh, Rio Ferdinand got an 8 month ban for missing a drugs test while a low profile Man City player got a slap on the wrist for the same offence previously.
Maybe they make it up as they go along? |

The PL run in
For all the schtick I get for saying that Zouma should play, that Cahill should be dropped and that Remy should get more of a chance, I hope some of you on this thread start to hang your heads in shame. That's not to mention the even more schtick I get for suggesting Mata should be resigned! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32009454
The little genius would revolutionise Chelsea's attacking options, and the goals wouldn't trickle, it would be a floodgate. Ivanovic is a fantastic player, but for a right back, he doesn't always like to get back and do his defending. Shocking for the two goals conceded. The title race is far from over, and the team is making hard work of a year when the race should have been over by now, and Chelsea should be at least 12 points clear. There was the issue with ref's, but still. |
