One of what I would say are three group of deaths. Featuring European heavyweights Spain and Holland, a decent looking Chile team and the Australia.

With Chile being a real threat here, the Spain-Holland game is going to be one hell of a clash

Spain v Holland (or The Netherlands ) is also the first game to be played in this group, this Friday night 8pm kick off - should be a cracker.

Really looking forward to Spain v Holland. Feel kinda sorry for Australia though, can see them getting hammered in all 3 games.

Spain are going to win this one, I think, but it's not going to be easy for them. Netherlands and Chile will both give them a good fight, and both have a chance of a draw, but admittedly very little chance of victory.

Netherlands are not the team they were in 2010 but they are still a force to be reckoned with and will surely have revenge on their minds as regards to Spain. They will probably battle it out with Chile which is potentially where the group will be decided.

Chile are not to be underestimated and have a good chance of beating Netherlands. They have a fighting chance of a draw with Spain and should be aiming for 2-3 points out of those 2 games. I would tentatively suggest they have the best chance of getting out of the group rather than Netherlands.

Australia are a very poor team amongst this year's batch and on top of that they are in a serious group of death. I would be staggered if they earn a point.

Group points predictions:
Spain -7 (drawing with Chile)
Chile - 5 (drawing with Spain and Netherlands)
Netherlands - 4 (beating Australia, drawing with Chile
Australia - 0

I can't see Spain not qualifying from this group, whether it's in 1st or 2nd. even when they lost the first game in 2010, they managed to get the job done, and they've now been there and done it over and over again, so I don't think they'll panic even if they get one iffy result to begin with. even I'm REALLY looking forward to watching Chile again, they've got a really manic way of playing sometimes. they were very entertaining in the group stages last time round, but couldn't finish for toffee. then they got simply overpowered against Brazil in the last 16. I think they'll join Spain in advancing from this one.

Forgot to mention my other prediction, which was that Australia will receive a bigger hammering from Chile than Spain. Chile are all-out attack and Spain will just get the job done. Not to mention that goal difference could be important for Chile.

I can't see beyond Spain & Netherlands getting out of this group, but I can't pick a winner.

Should England make the Quarter finals (I think they will) we will likely play one of these 2 and our world cup ends there. I would not be surprised if Spain & Netherlands both make the Semi finals. And yes, I do realize that means one will probably have to beat Brazil in the last 16.

Wow, I've never heard such a prediction. Netherlands aren't as good as they were in 2010.

True, and Spain are not the team they were four years ago either. but Netherlands won 9 out of 10 qualifiers, and Spain 6 out of 8.

I'd still expect either to beat England/Italy/Uruguay.

Maybe, but... for Netherlands to beat Brazil?! I think that's going a bit far.

A lot of pressure on Brazil. I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish second in the group.

Holland start well. Winner avoids Brazil in last 16, and could go all the way to the final. I think Holland win the opener.
