Mobile phones affect male fertility
Today's Daily Telegraph carries a report that men who keep a mobile phone in their trouser pocket run the risk if reducing their fertility due to the electromagnetic radiation from these devices affecting sperm quality. Surely a mobile phone only emits RF when a call is in progress , it's not possible to make a call if the phone is in a pocket. The phone may be left switched on to receive calls but it wouldn't emit RF in this state.
These findings were the result of a study carried out by a team led by Dr Fiona Matthews of the University of Exeter. Am I missing something? |

Presumably they emit RF when sending and receiving data, which they do quite a lot.

As with all such articles, it's very hard to prove/disprove and some of the (often sketchy) evidence collated by researchers with vested interests looking for funding doesn't help. Especially as loads of other experts (also with their own vested interests) will disagree. Similar stuff comes up all the time about being living close to cell towers, or under electricity pylons, holding mobiles too close to your brain, use during pregnancy, etc. etc...... |

Phones do reduce fertility.
I was playing Angry Birds the other night and failed to notice my girlfriend in her underwear beckoning me upstairs... |
