My best bet was getting Netherlands to win 30/1 pre tournament. Only put £2 free bet on it. But they won't win. They never do!!

They won't even win their next match.

Don't tell me no-one did an acca or multiple bet based on the group winners all winning their matches? This thread ain't turning out to be the get rich quick scheme I thought it would be....

Not the easiest task for bookmakers. Expect Colombia's odds to tumble if they inflict Brazil's first home competitive defeat since 1975.

France 23/10 - Germany 6/4
Brazil 13/5 - Colombia 15/4
Argentina 7/6 - Belgium 3/1
Netherlands 18/35 - Costa Rica 7/1

Brazil 11/4
Argentina 4
Germany 4
Netherlands 5
France 8
Belgium 12
Colombia 12
Costa Rica 50

Before the tournament i was just going to have a maximum bet on brazil, which is what i did last time. Probably not doing so was a bludner.

Some interesting betting news from Paddy Power.
Quote:
“Half-time correct score: Germany 5-0 Brazil
One UK punter from the West Midlands had £1 on at 500/1.

Correct score: Germany 7-1 Brazil
Four punters were on at 500/1. One punter from Essex had a fiver on it and cashed in on a cool £2,505.”

nice, but I would have thought the odds would have been at least 1000/1 for that score

They might have had a 500-1 bar on online bets I guess.

It seems that the bookies cap it at 500/1 with the correct scores. Looking at PP for the Holl/Arg match, you can't get any higher than 500's for 5-0 or 6/7/8/9/10-0 to the Dutch. More or the less the same for Arg to beat the Dutch with those scores.

Betfair do correct score betting only up to 3-3.

Above that you get "any other score". Not silly odds, maybe between 7/1 and 15/1 but covers any freak result.

See the guy who got the 7-1 correct score bet was on the front cover (and the lead story) in the Sun yesterday. Money and fame for an unemployed chef!!

Hey,
I've been thinking about making a bet on the final but have never really had a flutter before, is this wise? I dont want to get addicted to gambling or anything
I guess money wise I'd be better off making a bet on somebody at the start of the new PL season or something like that....

Treat it as a bit of fun Grim. Generally you ain't gonna win big amounts on stand alone games. Of course there are exceptions like freak games such as Brazil/Germany. Scorecasts (1st scorer and correct match score in 90 mins combined) have good returns but difficult to get right. Correct scores in 90 mins perhaps. Or 1st scorer, HT/FT predictions. Can be a fickle and frustrating business this footy betting malarkey but can be fun too. What kind of bet did you have in mind?

Just something like a HT/FT prediction, first scorer maybe
