I'm going with the PP bet £20 on a top scorer get £5 every time he scores.
I've went for the safe option of messi surely he will score at least 4 with the easy path through they have so thats the bet paid for by itself. Any one else with paddy power on here i got an email from them today they have a new app called PP Messenger if you download this for apple or android place a £10 bet they will give you £20 free, this is available for existing customers aswel i checked |

Putting £100 on a 3rd match group game like Brazil v Cameroon could be dangerous. Brazil may have already qualified, possibly only needing a draw to top it, they may also rest players and Cameroon are the ones needing something.
Brazil in their first two games are far more likely to be effective getting points on the board early wanting to please the home crowd, the only issue for me is whether they can handle the enormous pressure thats going to be on them. |

I'm of gambler but I do like to have a few bets on the World Cup as it just makes games such as Iran vs Nigeria more interesting when there's a few quid on it.

Don't you only get a fiver per goal if the player you bet on finishes as top scorer?

I'm backing a few teams to go out in the last 16, teams from weak groups that are paired with strong groups in Round 2. Mexico Colombia Belgium and Russia look the best bets

Yeah that's right so need the player to score at least 4 goals to cover the £20 bet. Not sure what happens if the player scores 2 goals In a game yet whether that I'll be 2 £5 bets or not will have to check it up
You wouldn't win anything if Messi scored more than four goals but didn't finish as top scorer. |

Your original stake would be returned to you in addition to your winnings if the bet was a success ie. Messi finished the tournament as top scorer. There's no need for him to score at least four goals to 'cover' the bet as this would just be extra cash on top of your winnings.

I'm not convinced about Messi as top scorer. His world cup tournament record is shoddy. Yes he plays better for Argentina now but like Rooney and Ronaldo, he'll be under a lot of pressure and sometimes top players can't hit a barn door in situations like that.
It's more likely that a striker with a previous world cup scoring record or a tournament noob without cup baggage, will come top. |

I've backed Fred and Higuain as top scorers, they've had more impressive international goalscoring records than Neymar and Messi recently

You wouldn't win anything if Messi scored more than four goals but didn't finish as top scorer. Doesn't sound a bad deal. I don't think I've ever seen as many variations of bets as Paddy Power is doing this time. Practically every thing you could think of, it's there.

Messi has something like 20 odd goals for Argentina in just the past few years, including an hat-trick against Brazil, not too bad.

No, but you would get four free £5 bets. The bets can be placed on any sport but are only valid for seven days. You must bet £20 (or more) on a single player, but E/W bets qualiify..ie, £10 ew. Free bet stakes are not returned on winnings, and goals in penalty shoot-outs do not count.

I wouldn't bet on Messi based on his previous WC performances, but he might prove me wrong. I actually think one of the German guys could win the golden boot because they're all about attack - very aggressive going forward.

I got 33/1 for Aguero top goal scorer Argentina to win the World Cup.
Argentina to win it was 4/1. Also got Silva first goal Brazil to win 3-1 for the first game, got 170/1 for that one. |

Currently (for today only), 33/1 for Neymar to be the first and last goalscorer in the World Cup on Sky Bet.
Sounds tempting. |

Could be a good bet with Augero. Sod's law that Brazil's other great continental rival wins it this time!
Plus Aguero was in great form for Man City and with all the attention on Messi he could find himself in plenty of space and with plenty of chances. |

Confirmed it with PP, your top scorer bet doesn't actually need to win outright; every time he scores you get the £5 bet within 24 hours
![]() I've backed Muller e/w at 30/1 by the way! |
