Catch it on IPlayer if you didn't see it. Laughed my socks off.

Why is she wearing Pharrell William's hat?

Perhaps to hopefully draw attention away from the phoney drummer in the background hitting the air above the skins to accompany what is obviously just a drum machine on the record?

I switched off after I saw the hat.

I was hoping against all hope she was going to get changed and stare us all out with Tennis Court.

If you look the drum he is hitting is vibrating. So he's obviously hitting it.

I think when he is just hitting the one drum, he is hitting it, but the camera angle is bad. There is one shot where the drum does clearly vibrate.

I also think he is hitting a block to the side of one of the drums, which you can just about make out in one camera angle, but I think that is all he is doing.

But, how low must a drummers carear get to have to effectively hit one drum for the majority of the performance, something a young school child could do, over the top of a drum machine.

I find her a bit creepy , almost Goth . Saw her on an American tv show a while back and she was doing very odd movements with her hands . Still cannot believe how old she is , on the ONe show she looks about 30 !,

I agree. She comes across as very odd and the One Show session didn't work for me at all. Nevertheless the Royals and Tennis Court songs are real quality tracks and she shows serious potential. I only came across Lorde recently when I heard Royals by accident. Visually I found her Tennis Court video stunning and quite mesmerising. She has great hair as well. Hope she does well.

I think she looks like Jerry Sadowitz. Google images confirms it!

Her hair was wild. When I had long hair mine looked like that when I got out my bed in the morning. She looked bored though.

I was only part paying attention but to me Matt & Alex sounded really on edge when interviewing her.. as if they were treading on egg shells or something. Not sure why. I'm used to how they sound and it immediately seemed like there was a lot of tension. Perhaps they just didn't know how to handle her?

I love her music, but I agree. She looks so old in her face and it's just strange.

I'm surprised to hear she was on The One Show. I would not have thought their viewers would be her target audience.

My dad loved the song she sung and subsequently went out and bought her album!

I like her look. It suits her and distinguishes her from the pack.

She just has bad skin, which is hardly rare for someone at her age. Covering that with make up does tend to make you look older.

Re-reading my post, I do sound ageist. which I didn't intend. I just tend to picture older, middle class Englanders as the main bulk of The One Show audience. Which is not to say people in those categories shouldn't or can't like music like Lorde's, it's just not a connection I would automatically make.

I was even more surprised when Rita Ora was on the programme recently, for similar reasons.

Apparently, and I'm a bit doubtful about this from my own experience, kids are now more likely to hang out in the living room with their parents at that time of day now that they all have phones or tablets. I guess it would make sense for anyone plugging stuff to want to appear on shows at that time if this is true. Get parents and kids at the same time.

I'd also point out that not all people who are old enough to have teenage children (like myself, for example) have lost all interest in pop music. Even my mother, in her sixties, still likes a lot of the stuff in the top 10.

Yes, that's very fair of you to say - and why I clarified what I meant. My mum is 60 and is happy to listen to singers like Kylie Minogue. I just, for some reason, have it in my head that the core audience The One Show seems to target are as I described eariler. I don't mean to stereotype at all, it's just the way the show usually presents itself.

It's almost as random and strange as Rita Ora appearing on it!
