They were the funniest thing I have seen on the show for ages.

Aleks is becoming a really interesting character tough, witty and intelligent.

I just hope TPTB continue to develop him instead of spending time on Sonia's bloody love life which is about as interesting as sawing your cock off with a rusty fruit knife.

I like Aleks too.

But I just hope Philith threatens him soon. Aleks ego seems to be growing by the episode.

It is time for Philith to inform him about who calls the shots on the Square .

I think I'll wait and see exactly what the financial arrangement he has with Ronnie before I'll declare him 'a nice bloke.'

I still think Ronnie is paying him to get Roxy hooked, then to break her heart so she goes running back to her 'big sistaaahh'.

Ronnie will never, ever let Roxy have a life of her own.

Aleks in the real world would tell the potato faced fatman to piss off.

He is a bigger, younger man in very good shape and also a boxer.

Philth is a short, middle-aged root vegetable.

Aleks was absolutely brilliant tonight. The way he pushed Lauren out of the way when she was doing her bug eyed routine at Roxy was nothing short of comedic genius. He's a great character.

I actually with no shame stood up and applauded Aleks when he threw the water over himself to make Roxy feel better. He's coming across as a really good man who actually loves Roxy or at least is very fond of her and his scenes with her were my favourite bit about the episode. I loved Aleks attempts at humour too to try and calm the situation down. Him saying to Roxy "maybe you'll start a new trend" was brilliant.

Does anybody else think as a whole though that the idea of Bianca selling dodgy tanning lotion that's so bad if turns the user orange is pretty close to Lorraine Newman style storytelling though? I've really enjoyed it of course but can actually see some parallels, am I alone there?

It was a nice fun scene. Agree heathy, if LN had done that story we'd all be groaning! Are we all hypocrites?!

Lorraine wouldn't have done that storyline as she hadn't the foggiest about characterisation and her idea of comedy was cringe fest sitcom stuff that is at odds with eastenders

They do humour best in one liners like Lauren and the doritos comment or like the Aleks scene earlier

I'm not able to argue properly about the differences between comic scenes under DTC and comic scenes under Newman I have to admit. I'm almost ashamed to say but I laughed and grinned like an idiot during the snake and the vicar scene. Newman's Eastenders was filled with flaws but I enjoyed some of her comic stuff almost as much as I enjoyed the Roxy and Aleks scenes tonight

I love Aleks, he's such a refreshing character, I love that he's being fleshed out a bit more, with more layers to him. He'll do wonders for Roxy if she stays with him.

The difference to me is that LN's stories like this seemed utterly pointless. The fake tan story is providing more info about the Butcher/Jackson clan's finances, giving Bianca a potential exit (imprisoned once again for dodgy goods) and also reminding us of Alek's dodgy side - he is willing to let stolen goods be sold on his market for a cut.

I totally agree, I hope it's genuine because he really would be a good boyfriend. He was totally unflustered, didn't care and would have stayed through the dinner and not made her leave or feel self concious, he made a joke about it, shooed away someone before they made her feel bad, made a fool of himself and handled Roxy pitching a fit....

I really like them they were so good

Aleks is great. I honestly laughed out loud tonight. And it's lovely to see Roxy getting used at last. I hope they last as a couple.

Completely agree with those loving Aleks pouring the water on his crotch. Good man, Aleks!

It was a funny scene between Aleks and Roxy sat at the table seeing Roxy with the sunbed treatment / fake tan - as well as the dialogue between them, about it. That is classic Eastenders humour at its best.

Both the actors really seem to be loving those scenes. I like the whole set-up with the flatmates - it feels like old-school EE, from the 80s, before all the families dominated everything. It's also much more plausible that a lot of professionals (and Tina) would be living together in London - this is actually how most people live.

They work so well together. Aleks is fast becoming one of my favourite characters. Its also good Rita is finally getting some decent material and she seems to be loving it.
