France who struggled to qualify for the world cup, find themselves in one of the easier groups, surely they will ease into round 2.

Also in the group Ecuador, Switzerland and Honduras. I think alongside France, Ecuador are the likely team to go through, they may even get a result against France.

Switzerland will struggle in the heat and Honduras looked unconvincing in the draw against England

Switzerland deserve a little more credit, I won't be surprised if they won the group.

Pre-World Cup friendlies are meaningless in terms of judging how a side is going to perform in a competitive World Cup game, they are just for getting up to match fitness, acclimatisation etc.. players won't be giving it their all in these games, and won't be 100% committed to challenges etc.. for fear of injury ruling them out of the tournament. That aside though, Honduras are obviously not expected to get anywhere.

The Swiss have one of the best coaches in the world. They won't be complete pushovers. I wouldn't be surprised if France don't get out even of the easiest of all groups.

Yeah I agree with the others. I'm going for Switzerland to go through, they're a good team. And despite what you saw in the game v England Ecuador aren't that amazing.

An interesting group full of potential surprises. Not quite as open as Group C but certainly one of the more intriguing groups. Here's my run through:

France - earmarked as the likely winners of the group, but a lot of this is due to the enduring name of France as one of the big teams rather than any justification. According to the FIFA rankings as well as past performance, they are not the most solid team and certainly not the most consistent. I would expect chance to beat Honduras but they may have a tough fight against neighbours Switzerland, and Ecuador could get a draw or even a win. Still, 6 points should really be what France are aiming for.

Ecuador - definitely a better team than in past showings, and in a relatively easy group they could flourish. Switzerland and France will definitely be tough games but both are games that they could get points from. Ecuador should also beat Honduras. This puts Ecuador firmly in the running to escape the group, but this all remains to be seen and will largely depend on Switzerland's outlook.

Switzerland - a team that are not be underestimated and will seize the opportunity to capitalise on a shaky group. Given both team's style, I will go out on a limb and suggest they will get at least a draw from France, and have a very good chance of winning. France are not consistent and this seems to be the match where they will drop the ball. As for Ecuador, this will be an interesting match that will likely result in a draw. Switzerland should beat Honduras. All things considered, they are the most likely bet for second place.

Honduras - They may have got a draw out of us last week, but don't be fooled. Honduras are not quite up to the standard of the leaders in this group, and are highly unlikely to win any matches. I see 2 points maximum for them in this group, as even with a nice draw they are still one of the weaker teams competing in the tournament. In all likelihood, they will have to fight to gain any points.

Predictions:
France - 7
Switzerland - 5
Ecuador - 4
Honduras - 0

Interesting group. France without Ribery, and then they decided Samir Nasri was more trouble than he was worth..might regret that ! But they do have some exciting young talent coming through. Whoever wins the group will avoid Argentina and probably play Bosnia..a massive incentive.
I'm taking France to win the group and then carry on through to the last eight. They've certainly had the luck of the draw after needing a play-off to qualify.
