Try restarting the phone, maybe it's a local issue - call EE to see. There's no widespread issue, might be very local to you.

Do you need to? I assume you got the information from EE, so it would be accurate. Is it such a disaster that your local mast is down temporarily? these things happen. If you really want to prove it then go 1/4 of a mile away and you'll get the signal from a different site.

well lets say this , its a good job I have a landline , what happens if my gran or my wife have heart attack and want to ring an amblunce and I had no landline , I couldn't call as mast are down.

plus I am paying for a serive what isn't working at the moment and what annouys me even worse is this , if work needs to be done fine , but they don't tell you this.

It happens on every network from time to time - its normal for there to be faults.

Happens on all networks and even with fixed line broadband and phones. You haven't lost an arm, you've had a short disruption to your mobile phone service! Yes you're paying for what they agreed in the contract, which explains that sometimes faults may happen.

Also, emergency services will still work as the phone can roam on any UK network for 999 emergency calls (please don't try this). I can assure you that if the base station is down, the phone will connect to a network that is normally not allowed for ordinary calls, eg: O2, Vodafone etc in order to attempt an emergency call. I hope that puts your mind at rest.

Scroll to section 3.3 in the terms you agreed to:

http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/...%26Cs%20v2.pdf

3.3 You may use the Service to contact the emergency services for free by calling 999 or 112 (or by sending an SMS to 999 if you are registered to contact emergency services by SMS) provided you are in range of a base station forming part of Our Network. If You are not within range of one of Our base stations, or if Our base station is not transmitting for any reason, Your Equipment may try to use another mobile network to connect

Your call to the emergency services.
Depending on Your Equipment, Your approximate location using certain location data may be provided to the emergency services.
