Hi guys,

I've had to restore my phone from an iCloud backup earlier today (the reasons why aren't important) - it's an iPhone 5.

My phone backs up to iCloud every night when I plug my phone in to charge at home - the latest backup was at 2am this morning - I decided to restore my phone this morning and did a restore from iCloud...

The apps and messages etc all restored fine - however the photos were very slow... The two most recent photos in my camera roll downloaded but it froze there - though it had spaces for the other 1200 odd pictures and videos in my camera roll... it knew how many photos should have been there, where, and also displayed the length of the videos... just no thumbnails... when I clicked on the pictures it said 'loading' but nothing ever happened... i restarted the phone after a while, but to no avail...

I resented my phone too, but no luck...

I've just synced the phone again, but this time I watched the number of pictures in my photos go from 1200 down to 2... the places where they all were supposed to be just disappeared and I quickly was left with just two pictures in my camera roll...

Luckily I backup my photos to iPhoto on my macbook.. and I see that I can sync all pictures from iPhoto to my phone... but has anyone got any bright ideas as to how I can rectify this and have it how it should be without having to sync my pictures with iPhoto?

I don't particularly want to restore my phone from the backup again as I will lose a lot of personal/important/sentimental text messages from today.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it!!

I had to get a replacement I phone 5 (end of April I think). In the apple shop they restored my phone vfrom I cloud and I have the same problem. Also, all my music disappeared.

My netbook that had iTunes on has been wiped as it was running badly. As soon as I tried to put iTunes back on it makes the netbook run crappily so I had to uninstall it again!

My photos weren't backed up to iTunes but my music was on there.

No idea how to fix it!! I've lost all my pics of my dog as a puppy 😒

Will prob have to get a Genius Bar appointment to see what they say but I just haven't has the time.

If you want to backup iPhone to iCloud , do the following with iPhone Data Recovery :

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings
Go through the setup assistant again as you did when your phone was new. During this process you will be given the option to Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below). Select this.
Connect your phone to your wall charger and make sure it is connected to wi-fi and let it restore. Be patient as sometimes restoring from an iCloud backup can take hours to complete.
