Using HH4 as an extender

I have just got the new HH5 and have an ethernet cable running into the otherside of the house and was wondering if I could use the old HH4 as an extender in the other room of the house, so I can use the ethernet plugs for my TV, console and apple tv and have them hardwired rather than having them run off wireless signal, which isn't as strong because of the walls?
If so does anyone know if I need to change the settings on the old router?
Thanks

All you'd need to do in that case is turn the wifi off on the HH4. That's if you want it off of course.

Turn off the DHCP server in the HH4 so that it doesn't conflict with the HH5.

If you want to continue using WiFi one suggestion is to set the WiFi SSID and password to be the same on both routers. That makes it easier for laptops etc to switch between them as you move around.

Then just plug the lead from the HH5 into any LAN port on the HH4. That way the HH4 just acts as a simple network switch extension off the HH5.

On the HH4:

Plug your computer into the HH4 with a LAN cable. Ensure that the computer is not currently connected to the HH5 (turn off WiFi etc).

Go to http://192.168.1.254 .

Click on advanced settings, enter the router password, then press continue

Click on home network, and then IP addresses on the menus at the top.

Change the HUB IP Gateway address to 192.168.1.50
Select "No" under DHCP enable, and press apply.

Unplug the HH4 from your computer, take it to where you want it, and connect the LAN cable into one of the four yellow LAN ports on the back. NOT the red WAN port.

It should then work as an extender.
