Elbow macaroni

A few years ago, I used to be able to buy it at ASDA, then they stopped selling it (they still do straight macaroni). I then had to trek to Aldi to get it, but they haven't had it for about a year now. I now go to Booth's, which is about twice as far as Aldi and 3 times as far as Asda (I walk everywhere, don't drive).

Any of you buy it or have difficulty finding a store that sells it?

Father's Day is this Sunday and I'm making mac-n-cheese for him to go with the meatloaf, and for me, mac-n-cheese just isn't the same without the elbow macaroni.

I have just had a look at Tesco's and they have something that
looks to me = like **** Elbow Macaroni **** in their NEW section
It is called :- Tesco AUTHENTIC Fresh Pasta Macaroni / Fresh Egg 350G

Any 3 for £3.00
valid until 24/6/2014

Sainsbury's SELL Spirali which looks a bit like the elbows
(500g) for 95p

I feel hungry looking at ALL the pasta selections mmmmmmmm
Good luck and hope your Father enjoys the Special day and
the yummy foods with you

I thought I have seen the Elbows at Morrison's and Sainsbury's
but non are showing up on their web site at the moment

If you had more time - you would have found and bought it on Ebay
that is where you can always find everything !!!!!

A lot of Big Supermarkets seem to sell the kit in packets
which contain:-
A pack of The elbows and ............. the other sachet .... to make the Sauce

Batchelor's also have lots of options to make macaroni cheese
in self contained packets

I was just going to mention that.
If you have trouble finding it and really want it you could buy the pack and just use the pasta.

That said, I was surprised a few months back when ASDA did really develop their dried pasta range. They started stocking many more shapes than they used to.

I think that's the brand that ASDA used to sell. Does it have a tartan pattern on the top of the package?

I feel I should mention that I'm making the mac-n-cheese for my husband, but he's also a father. He loves my cooking so making something special for him is just as nice as being taken out to eat. The first time he tried my meatloaf (a recipe I got from my mom) he was making noises as he was eating it, lol, like 'om, nom, nom' kind of stuff.

The ASDA site say they stock this
http://groceries.asda.com/asda-webst.../1000000463388

It maybe in the world food aisle instead of with the rest of the pasta

I'll have a look next time, but the ASDA in our town has a pretty small selection of 'world foods'.

Yes that sounds like it, blue tartan across the top, that's a pity your Asda doesn't have it any more, the skinny elbows just aren't as good. All the supermarkets up here stock it, but I guess it's a regional thing because Marshall's is a Scottish company.

One of the reasons I'm a fan of elbows is I that once cooked very long Macaroni, the kind in a blue paper packet, & didn't have the sense to break it up before cooking, unimaginably horrible
