I think the crap sound is ITV's fault for not spending the cash.
Yeah, no 5.1 surround here on ITV HD. Cheapskates.

That was absolutely horrible.

Did make me laugh this bit though:

"And now the kids from the local football clubs will demonstrate their skills"
*Sees the football on strings*
Come on Brazil, really?

The Nike advert is better than that ceremony.

Abysmal even for an emerging economy like Brazil.

Well I'm sure Russia's opening ceremony will be pretty good, if the Winter Olympics one is anything to go by.

Oh dear why did ITV bother, this is terrible. Crap sound feed. BBC might have done better, ITV seem not to have a clue.
They get the feed from Brazil. If it was on BBC1 it would be exactly the same

All that money on stadiums and they couldn't afford a decent sound system, I've heard better sound quality at my village fete.

Yeah, this is what I mentioned earlier.

So.....now what??

I thought the 'opening ceremony' would be on for about an hour. On reflection, that would be the kind of torture even Jack Bauer would be scared of.
