Stupid place to put a tv studio. Right on the beach.
I can see the protesters taking it over and using it as a squat before the world cup is at an end.
That would be awesome. About 50 people crammed into that little box banging drums and chanting while Adrian tries to squeeze past and present to camera.

Best bit about that whole match was seeing the free kick spray in all honesty.
I used to watch Brazilian football in the middle of the night about 12 years ago and they were using it then. God knows why something that makes so much sense took so long to be used elsewhere

The ref's wiki page ...
He was also the focus of a piece on the USA Today website and provided an interesting quote:

The 42-year-old said in his introductory video on the FIFA website that he recognized the expectations for the World Cup referees were very high. “I’m mostly looking forward to meet a lot of expectations,” he said.

Kovac is understandably less than pleased:

Croatia boss Niko Kovac: "If that's how we start the World Cup, we'd better give it up now and go home.
"We talk about respect, that wasn't respect, Croatia didn't get any.
"If that's a penalty, we don't need to play football anymore. Let's play basketball instead, it's a shame."

Neymar shined like a beast, the best player on the pitch saved his team single-handedly. Rest of the brazlian players can't shine neymar's boots. Oscar scored a fluke goal.

He's right to be angry. Croatia ended up chasing a game they shouldn't have had to chase and had a good equaliser disallowed.....this World Cup has started on a sour note.

I think Neymar underperformed to be honest.

Got a yellow when potentially could have got a red for deliberate elbow. Yes he scored two goals but his first was a lucky scuff, and the penalty was embarrassing.

Let's not even start on his rolling around.

Oscar played better overall than Neymar today imo.

That match just stunk of fix .

That Brazilian no 10 should have been sent of for elbowing .
That was not a penalty .
The Croatian 2nd goal was a good goal and should not have been disallowed .

That referee must have been got at and told under no circumstances are Brazil to lose the opening game .

Just gives you a sickening feeling about this tournament and the corruption rife among certain nations with interests in football .
Of course : what are the chances that ref would award a penalty to Croatia for the same incident at the other end? Hell would freeze over sooner

I think you'll find that was the referee.

Neymar created chances for his teammate and scored the best goal of the match. Oscar wasn't that good tbh. He played good 1st half and did little in 2nd half

Best goal of the match? you mean the scuffed shot from around 30 yards which any keeper could save in his sleep?

I thought it was a penalty and Kovac should stop being such a crybaby.

I hope we don't have to put with a month of this OTT outrage.

Oscar was actually far better in the second half than the first half. I don't know what match you were watching.

You are in a severe minority then. It wasn't a penalty.

Fred was appealing for the penalty before he even hit the ground

I don't think it's OTT. Every single refereeing decision seemed to go Brazil's way tonight : Croatia were good value for a draw tonight and ended up chasing a game they shouldn't have had to chase.

Don't worry, we will just have to put up with the people who only watch football every two years. Happens every time.

Oscar was by far the best Brazillian on the pitch. He had some fantastic runs and always looked dangerous whenever he had the ball.

Oscar was my man of the match despite Neymar's two goals. He was involved in everything, breaking up attacks, intercepting passes and he put over several great crosses.
Two weak goals and a dodgy penalty from Brazil. But I don't think anyone can deny that they were the better side.

They had more possession but didn't really do anything with it, I thought Croatia were worth at least a point. On that performance they have no chance of winning the tournament but of course it was the first match and nerves will have played a part.

Interesting perspective:

South American football expert Tim Vickery, speaking on Match of the Day about protests in Brazil: "It surprised everyone during the Confederations Cup. Not even the organisers of the initial protest a year ago imagined that. But after it happened last year, after a political generation flexed its muscles, I think it was inevitable we would see a repeat performance this time round.
"The protests are planned outside the stadiums for every game. How this pans out I don't think anyone knows for sure. Two situations could make things worse - police reaction, or the nightmare scenario for Brazilian authorities which is Brazil exiting the tournament early.
"Disappointing performances on the field could fuel the fire of anger. You do wonder if Brazil get hometown decisions more often because it was would be a disaster if Brazil exited this tournament early."
I really hope that referees aren't going to be put in a situation where they feel obliged to give Brazil decisions just to stop violence breaking out. Not only would it bring the game into disrepute but imagine the pressure it puts on the official. He could easily become a hate figure pretty quickly. I understand the protesters and why they are angry but I do hope that they can keep a lid on their frustrations. I hope they police don't continue to act in a heavy handed manner and spark off all sorts of chaos.

Refs like that really piss me off. It wasn't a penalty, and Croatia's goal shouldn't have been disallowed. makes you wonder how hard he was leaned on, doesn't it? And I wanted Brazil to win!! Not like that though.
