Ha was literally just saying the same thing here!

Is it itv or the host broadcaster?

ITV I think. It's distracting!

I wonder if they'll change it if they get complaints.

Sky altered their dog and got complaints and tweaked it over a few matches.

It's HUGE! Does it really need to be that big?

Totally agree.

I agree, the ITV graphic is horrible. The BBC's version, although much clearer, is similarly located. I can only guess they both have to adhere to 'graphic safe' guidelines for 4:3 viewers.

There is no guidelines.
There is no reason at all now to have any graphics 4:3 safe.

I agree too, I prefer the BBC1 one I also like how it turns to 'GOAL' when someone scores

Didn't it do that last night when Sterling hit the side netting?

I disagree with everything said here. The itv score graphic is NOT too big. You have to realise that not eveyone has a big fancy 80 plasma to watch sport on. What looks big to you on your tv may not look big on other peoples..

Some of us still have older, smaller tvs and the broadcasters must respect this. I am glad itv has changed thier score graphic. The one they used last year for other football games was too small, I could not read the clock. This was on a 4:3 tv set to letterbox, a decent size too.

This one was the correct size. So was the bbc's.

And whats your gripe about 4:3 safe graphics? So you have to deal with a score graphic slightly nearer the centre. What gives? You've got more screen area anyway on a big tv. At least us 4:3 viewers can watch in centre cut out and still get a full picture.

And before you say it, there are probably more 4:3 tvs around than we think. While many will have a flat screen in thier living room I bet many secondary tvs on bedrooms, kitchens etc will be 4:3 or smaller 16:9/16:10 sets (yes 16:10 does exist - look it up). Having a small 4:3 tv (less than 20 inches) will make the picture too small (I know I have one) so the only suitable option is centre cut out.

There are many digiboxes out there with the default setting as center cut out, particularly older ones. While these boxes remain, broadcasters should keep to 4:3 safe areas.

Ive noticed over the past few months broadcasters are putting many things outside the 4:3 area. Even in letterbox 14:9 (half way between 4:3 and 16:9) the graphics are edgy and sometimes the first letter is chopped off a graphic on screen. This should be stopped.

The gripe is people expecting us all to live in the past to accommodate the small few that still have old equipment.
if you're irritated by broadcasters using the ENTIRE widescreen image, thats something YOU need to address and update what you use to view TV like the rest of us have, making use of the 16:9 image.
