Nice tribute to Rik Mayall. The song is currently on course to not just get into the top 10 but challenge for the number 1 spot. |

What a monumentally dreadful song. It's a shame that most EDL types won't understand its irony.

The end of that video is very moving now, with Rik disappearing into the light.

He would have been DELIGHTED at the public response to his death. I hope this brings his family comfort. I canrt remember the last time a celeb died & there was almost uniform affection towards them. |

Made me a bit upset that!
He would have been DELIGHTED at the public response to his death. I hope this brings his family comfort. I canrt remember the last time a celeb died & there was almost uniform affection towards them. (Keith Allen's) maverick, contrarian impulses are impressive. They reveal themselves as we talk. My phone rings. I’m told that Rik Mayall has died suddenly. I tentatively break the news to Allen. His reaction is an instant critique of Mayall’s work with long-time comedy partner Ade Edmondson. “I hated their work,” he says. “I hated it.” But you wrote some of it, I say. The Yob, The Bull*****ers . . . these were early “alternative comedy” classics. Allen sighs and assembles a roll-up, like a teacher gearing up to make one final effort at explaining the difference between left and right to a notorious dunce. “Obviously condolences to his family,” he says, “but there’s personal tragedy and then there’s the work. I enjoyed working with Peter Richardson [co-writer on The Comic Strip Presents . . .], but to me it was childish. And I felt Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson went on to produce just s***. Bland rubbish that the BBC laps up, the sort of b******s that makes you a national treasure. I think Rik was actually talented but, Edmondson, no. Absolutely talentless.” He waves away a bee. “I can’t give you a eulogy,” he says. “I’m sorry but this country has got to do something about applauding mediocrity.” Keith Allen is going to be even more jealous of Rik now his football song's a hit. |

Apart from the vile Keith Allen. This is from an interview with The Times.

Rik had the career & public affection Keith will never have. I call a bit of jealousy.
Don't give me that crap about applauding mediocrity- yeah Vindaloo was high ****ing art was it?? Also he did appear in a Young Ones Skit so he wanted to be a part of that then. His brother Kevin has appeared in Bottom and other Rik and Ade shows. |

Keith has always been like this. Peter Richardson said Keith was happy to tag along with the rest of the Comic Strip as long as he could call them all W***ers.

It's not blinding, is it? In fairness, think he was entertaining in Robin Hood. Haven't seen Bodies. |

Keith Allen has no right to say anything after hamming it up in BBC family friendly Robin Hood. 100% jealous of Rik and Ade's careers.
Rik was, and forever shall be, a legend of comedy.

Rik was, and forever shall be, a legend of comedy. ![]() Allen is just jealous. The worst thing he ever did was give Lilly a singing career. |
