A repeat of last times final. This should be a huge match and is being screened exclusively live on BBC One this evening. (ITV will be showing highlights immediately following the conclusion of the match)

Exclusively live you say? So, I guess that means I can't watch it live anywhere else but on BBC One?

I take it if my TV is tuned to a different channel, I won't be able to watch the match live, right?

Is this the official thread?

These threads will quickly turn sour, they do every tournament, I don't know what was wrong with the group threads.

To stay on topic this should be a good game, many will probably quickly turn against "boring" Spain and their tiki-taka style of play, personally I don't mind it though, it's won them three tournaments recently. Spain to win, 2-1.

Is this the first time there's been a consecutive match between the same teams in the world cup?? Last time they met was the final in 2010 and their first game in this years tournament is against each other.

Holland will win this one I think.

This is the first "big" game, really forward to it. I think Spain will win, yes they have an ageing team but it's still better than what Holland have.

Should be a great match. I'll be rooting for Holland.

Here's hoping it's nothing like the 2010 final! I'll be rooting for the Dutch.

The group threads are fine but would have been better if the teams had been entered into the title heading too. So Group A - Brazil, Croatia etc etc and so on. Rather than just Group A, B, C etc. I certainly don't know all the groups without looking them up. Just saying like

I know...just an observation.

Plus there is alternative commentary on BBC Red Button too.

Looking at the line-ups I can only see one winner..Spain. Even with an ageing squad they should have far too much for the Netherlands. Of course, you can't ignore Robben and Van Persie, but Sneijder is only a shadow of the player he used to be. No Strootman or Van der Vaart, I just can't see them posing much of a threat.

This would definitely have made the group threads more popular. At the moment the majority of people prefer posting in the match threads.

The football/WC forum just needs a good tidy up. Not sure if the mods have the time though.

I would prefer if the other football threads was separate from the World Cup threads to make it more of a event.

They're too busy proactively moderating the Manchester United supporters thread.

Good point but I guess its easier and less time consuming to rename a forum section than create a new one.

Yes, got to go with Spain too. Heard a dutchman (sounded like Rene Meulensteen) on the radio a few minutes ago saying that the defence will likely feature Ron Vlaar and a couple of Feyenoord youngsters who have yet to play in European competition with their club. The youngsters could swim rather than sink, but this is a big ask.

DS has used match threads for years. Nothing wrong with them.

As for this game, hopefully a football match will break out at some point, unlike the last meeting which was Mortal Kombat: The Revenge.

Spain: Casillas; Azpilicueta, Ramos, Piqué, Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Alonso Iniesta, Silva; Costa

Netherlands: Cillessen; Janmaat, Vlaar, de Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind; de Jong, de Guzmán, Sneijder; Robben, van Persie

Ohhh will definitely watch if de Guzman is playing!

RVP or Robben to score, the Spain team look so much better though overall, I'll be amazed if they fail to win.
