That header was unreal
It was like a goal from Roy of the Rovers, i remember reading that and thinking, no way would he score from there

Disagree with the pundits...it was an accident not a penalty.
Whether something is an accident or not doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a foul.

An "accident" that stops a goal scoring chance in the penalty box is still a pen though.

Great goal from van Persie will be one of the goals of the tournament I think.

Robben?

I thought he grew all that hair quick, come to mention it.

Shearer certainly likes talking over Thierry.

Shearer really is saying the obvious. Only Lawrenson's commentary is worse than his punditry.

Whatever the pundits say, this is FAR better than the rubbish that ITV served up last night.

Apart from Lawro ... who "saw" van Persie "waiting" and "looking" at the keeper. Pure instinct by the player.

Easy mistake. They could be twins.

Lawro needs to be put out to pasture I agree but these three and Lineker are a good panel. Shearer could talk over people a bit less though.

Whether something is an accident or not doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a foul.
But in this case the accidental aspect was the forward accidentally stepped on the defender's leg.

As I said earlier (and Lineker seems to agree), it wasn't an accident he moved his foot just so he could "trip" over the defender. I didn't like Rio's comment that if a defender goes to ground the attacker deserves everything he gets.

Costa stamped on the defenders leg, not a penalty.

Alan Shearer is and always has been an absolutely woeful pundit.

This is the closest Phil Neville has been to an England camp for over 10 years, has it not?

Lol painting the pitch green! I remember seeing pictures of little old ladies doing that ahead of the Sochi Olympics.

Everyone will look the same to me in a few hours anyway, professional footballer or not.

That seems to be the perspective of a lot of the modern players who become pundits though. Gary Neville basically says the same thing. Maybe a sign that players basically accept this side of the game.

The penalty decision wasn't as bad as the Brazil one from last night, but I wouldn't fall over nearly doing the splits. Might do some ligaments in.
