I've just discovered that Lopez, the regular goalkeeper for Real Madrid, isn't even in the squad? If he can keep Casillas out of the team there, you'd think there would have been a chance of him starting tonight and him being in the squad a foregone conclusion.

Yeah it's a strange one, Casillas was 1st choice in the cup and champions league.

Having looked at the lineups, that doesn't look like a particularly strong Dutch side. Spain should win 2-0.

I expected Casillas to start, what with being the captain and all (although you could argue Ramos could step up to that plate now) but it seems odd that Real Madrid's 1st choice keeper for the majority of games isn't even in the squad. That can't have happened too many times in a Spanish squad over the years!

I would have taken Lopez over Reina. Keep De Gea around to give him more experience of a big tournament.

Maybe Lopez and Casillias don't get along after all of the shenanigans from Mourinho's final year so Del Bosque has made somewhat of a political choice.

Oh dear those bbc titles were bad.
Itv beats them hands down.

Be a good match this hopefully, carry on the good football so far (despite the ref decisions)

I think Spain's biggest (potential) weakness could be Casillas. For all his leadership in helping this Spain side be so successful (along with Xavi), since EURO 2012, he's never really looked the same keeper. Still, as others have said Spain have far too much quality really, to not win against what looks like an underwhelming Dutch side; even Spain's sub bench looks pretty good. I hope though Holland can spring up an unlikely surprise.

Although I would say that it's up to the 'best' team to win whether they play basic football or fancy football, if the Dutch play how they did in the final then i'll go for Spain all the way.

Crikey. This BBC coverage is like night and day compared to craptastic ITV.

At least Shearer is making an effort to talk about the teams rather than the ITV approach which consists of "yeah, they've got Eto'o... and Song... they'll be important players."

You're thinking of Puyol, going to be new assistant sports director at Barca from next season.

BBC actually discussing the teams and players?!

Don't they have anyone with a roving microphone on Copacabana beach?!

That's because they've got people who know what they're talking about

Thanks. I always get mixed up with them two for some reason.
