I also cannot find the carite sheets mineral to fix my ship, I am not sure how you even identify it and what it looks like. I have found one of 4, but not even sure how I got that.

I named a solar system after Kenny Baker and called the planets Star Wars names in his honour
![]() This is all I've been playing since Wednesday and I still love travelling to a different galaxy and landing on new planets, this is the most chilled out game I've ever played. Had my first proper space battle, close call but I won. |

Been playing a while now, still exploring the first planet, but having trouble figuring out what to do and what to look for.
I know how to get the various minerals, upgrade health, protection, laser gun etc, but I am constantly being told my inventory is full when I try to harvest something. I have transferred everything to the ship I can, but without dumping stuff I am not sure what else to do. I also cannot find the carite sheets mineral to fix my ship, I am not sure how you even identify it and what it looks like. I have found one of 4, but not even sure how I got that. For the carite sheets you need to click on an empty inventory spot, and one option should be crafting, you need to create then from minerals |

I've got one more species to find on planet two to get the 100% discovery Unit bonus but can't find it anywhere! I know you don't technically need to find it but I want to finish it before I hyperdrive somewhere else and never come back. I don't think I'll go out of my way too much on other planets though.
*** EDIT *** Ha! 10 mins later and I find it

So the consensus is it's a decent indie game worth about £10-£20 that's been over-hyped and given a major release?

I liked the idea of many different systems to visit, but in game you are actually limited to just a few, depending on how much warp drive you have available....and The grind of collecting stuff gets tiresome after a while. I wish there was more of a storyline. At the moment , the game mechanic is like far cry 3, for eg, but without the story or missions. just a few enemys now and then and collecting stuff to survive and artifacts. The planets all have very imilar assets, almost every space station is identical and whilst some terrains are nice to look at, some arent and it all gets a bit boring after a while.
If the devleopers add content later on, like maybe building bases and making a proper multiplayer then it might get more interesting for me. |

I don't see how base building would change the game tbh. "We're working on base building" seems to be a standard reply from game devs when their original product is found to be lacking and I've yet to see how that changes anything. By the time it's added (if it's even added) most people have long since moved on.

Some of those planets out there are really dangerous places.
I was within an easy sprint of my ship, mining away at a big deposit of copper, when suddenly I was attacked by a big group of sentinels. I couldn't even make it back to my ship before they killed me. Just a tip. If any line of the description that pops up when you land on a planet is in red, take it seriously and wear the appropriate protection. Better still, just take off again .

I landed on a planet yesterday where the sentinels were set to attack on sight. Actually proved to be a fun little planet with me having to go on quick runs for resources before dashing back to shelter or my ship. Also got a ton of the sentinel killing milestones on that planet for obvious reasons
My multitool is now up to 19 slots, so I'm going to upgrade that for some serious damage as well. |

Well I gave NMS another go over the weekend, but it really isn't grabbing me. I've repaired my ship, but not left the first planet yet... please tell me it gets more interesting than this?
Walking round planets and finding words while shooting stuff with your do everything gun can't be this games entire game mechanic can it? This is just Minecraft isn't it? Seriously thinking about trading it in, as I can't face the thought of spending hour after hour wandering around collecting stuff... to make more stuff... that then needs different stuff to make it work. |

Well I'm regretting buying the digital version of the game. I've put about 7 hours into the game so far and visited 2 solar systems and a few planets and I am bored of the game.
There is no variety of things to do, so looks like I am going back to Elite Dangerous. |

Finally sat down and gave it an evening. Landed on 5 planets and won a couple of space battles.
Its fair to say its a game I admire more than I love, and I can well imagine why it wont be everyone's cup of tea, but I have to say, I really enjoy it. Its not the most in depth game ever, its not the most complex ever, but I love the style of the design and the randomness of it, and the fact you don't have to concentrate every second, you can just enjoy it. Defo worth £45 for me, but I'll accept for some people it just wont be the sort of game they want, but equally that applies to every game for example virtually every FPS bores me to tears these days. |

I thought there were supposed to be 18 quintillion star systems, but every time I use my warp drive I just keep ending up on this solid blue planet called CE-34878-0.

The problem with this is the fact it's simply to grindy. It was being sold as an explore the 'infinite' galaxy game. What they didn't tell you was you have to to endless repetitive grinding for material to make progress.
They game would be so much better (for me anyway) if they added a simple 'explore' mode, which ignores the tedious grinding - and just gives you a starship with infinite fuel and lets you go and see the galaxy without all the silly MMO 'gamey' grinding. I'd be quite happy for them to remove the collecting/crafting/inventory, the combat and the trading as they are all poorly implimented if they'd just give me a ship and actually let me explore the galaxy without all the tedious shite. |
