Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games has played it & I think it actually sounds pretty good. Hadn't been that interested before but it's a game I'll be keeping my eye on http://youtu.be/6ltnEKwuhkk

I am really liking the look of this more and more as we learn new details. I just hope we can explore with a couple of friends.

I think the online works more like Journey, where you may happen across other players by chance but can't join friends. I think I have heard that anyway.
The game looks awesome. I love exploration, collection and discovery games so it is right up my alley.

The Observer had a quite interesting article last weekend.

Looks good, quite fancy exploring the universe. Might get a bit lonely though, if it ever comes out we could have a DS meetup at ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha.

There's still the big question of VR compatibility for NMS.

Sony have never said the game will be on PSVR, but at the same time nobody will say that it won't be.

Something's afoot.

It HAS TO BE VR compatible. It looks entirely designed to be.

I'd bet my hat it will be.

Not sure if this is conformation or not about VR support

http://vrfocus.com/archives/30591/no...svr-questions/

“I think – I’m probably saying too much but – I think No Man’s Sky would be a really exciting title for VR. I think it would be a cool thing, right? But we’re like a tiny team working on this game right now.”

What I want to know is, are they going to reset the database for launch? Every single planet, animal, etc, is named by the person that finds it so by the time we get our grubby mitts on it, it's all going to be named by all these damn reviewers!

(Yes I know, 18 quinitillion planets, I'm sure there's enough to go round...)

I think this game looks great and can't wait to get it for the PS4. I'm going to call one of my sunny planets Booby Island.

Oooooohhhh, there's a profanity filter in there. You might have to go B00by Island.

Because of all the trailers and conferences revealing NOTHING new to the original game showing my hype for this had completely died, but Kinda Funny's interview with the dev really got me interested in it again:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6WH6VAhjxI

They basically confirm VR support, unique multiplayer a la Journey and Dark Souls, fps elements, rpg elements, the works. I'd written it off as a glorified walking simulator but now I'm genuinely considering getting the Special Steelbook Edition from GAME. Shame the PS4 version doesn't get the cool limited edition with the replica of the ship, I'd have been all over that.

50 quid they are charging for this. Still dont see the point of this game, fly to a planet and press square when you see a funky named plant, fly to another planet with different colours and do the same. It doesn't look like there are any civilizations just dinosaurs and AT-ATs wandering about. Seems a bit of a wasted opportunity as it looks good but unless there is other stuff to do it could get boring real quick.

Im thinking of this as the same as Minecraft. No real objective, just endless exploring and doing what you want.

I think this game is worth a punt. There arent that many innovative games out there so when one somes along, I like to back it. I hope this game does well, and the developers gets rewarded well for at least trying something new.

It will probably be more like £40 online and if it's still too high for you then just wait for a price drop.

I don't know much about this game, but it seems to be more like a survival game like, Elite, The Ark or Solus but on a very much larger scale. I'm actually looking forward to it because I love exploring things in games and the appeal of being able to explore thousands of planets excites me.

it will either go one of two ways for me i will either love all the exploring and discovering new stuff mining, upgrading everything, or i will get bored because of no story. i will give it a go because im interested in it.

i personally dont have a problem with the price things like street fighter launch bare bones but as thats supposed AAA so its not a problem. this i might get 40 odd hours out of it but its worth less dont get it

It would be good if they let you create your own planet and decide what you want on it and and what animals and life you want on it just as an extra.

Ive bought many many full priced AAA games over the years and only put a couple of hours into them, most recently Fallout 4 and Far cry 3. To spend £40/€50 on a game where I could spend hundreds of hours on it is fine.

Its a risk we take with all games I guess.

I like this idea but it sounds familiar. Was it a free to play PS3 game called Eco something ? Am I going barking mad or did this exist ?

To add to your idea I want other players to visit my planet and I have to try to protect it if theyre destroying it.

All the trailers/gameplay shown so far have been in some kind of cheat mode where you can travel wherever you want as far as you want.
From reading recent reviews it sounds like there's a definite RPG element to it, once landed on a planet you won't be able to leave it till you've got fuel, which may involve trading and mining and so on.

I think the older gamers who played Elite at first release will love this (of which I am one)...
