Glad to hear it's gone gold, finally shut-up all the doom and gloomers who said it was never coming out.
Still excited for this. Unique, exciting and creative. I suspect the COD/Battlefield etc. community will despise it. |

I play EVE Online amongst many other types of games. From what I've seen the game looks very wide in scope but has no depth. Unless there's a lot of stuff the developers haven't talked about.

I think this is one where we wait foe for the reviews to get the gist of the game - there are certainly enough sites to garner opinion - and see if it is a game worth buying.
I worry for me that there will be no point to the game. I know my objective with Uncharted 4, Dark Souls etc. Sometimes too much freedom can be inhibiting to a game. |

Being a former MMORPG player I like the idea of huge explorable worlds in single player/coop games. But I'm also aware that many MMORPGs had huge worlds with little to do in them except wander around fighting random mobs. This game could face the same problem.

BIB we know this to be true. They have frequently said they don't want to give too much away as it really defeats the point.

The disc version only weighs in at 6GB, a lot of which is audio. This is tiny by today's standards but apparently it's down to the procedurally generated nature of the game, which takes up a lot less disk space.

I'm quite surprised it's as high as 6gb with it being procedural. It's amazing what you can cram into a binary when the game world is being generated by maths...
Check this out from a few years ago, the program was 0.1mb (100k) (game starts about 00:40 seconds) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lctkgyVtao |

I'm still sceptical about the multiplayer element of this game actually existing. The vague answers and the low odds of it actually being accessible concern me.

Just saw the new trailer. Still does nothing other than land ship, look at shit then fly away again bar the odd space battle. How many planets can you watch before enough is enough.

I have been thinking about this game a lot recently, and at this point I think I have hyped it to levels it can't ever hope to reach. I still can't believe that a game like this is coming out, if it it delivers on its promises then it potentially be the GOAT for me. Just wish it was 10/08 now so that I can judge for myself. I can see my first weekend after release being spent in a darkened room and taking lots of screenshots.

Too much emphasis is put on multiplayer these days!

I am going to wait a while on this one I think. The recent trailers aren't really doing it for me. Be interested to see how it reviews and if a player Base grows and stays with it.
Still hopeful for the game.. |

PS Plus will NOT be required to play NMS online (not that there's much chance of bumping into a friend anyway)

Having seen some footage to me it looks as if when you pick a planet and fly towards it you're on rails and sort of loaded into it if that makes sense. They blur the screen to hide this in a way. If so.. this makes me wonder if you're actually flying around a huge universe at all or if you're effectively jumping between planets with a sort of holding lobby in between. Sort of like entering a portal in Minecraft.. you step in.. the screen wobbles a lot and then you're in a new world. i wonder if NMS is a bit like that. I'm curious.
It's not critical if it IS like that because the argument is well that's the best way to simulate the experience and to allow you to rapidly explore. Which is a fair point. But interesting all the same. I might be wrong however. It's difficult to judge from the video I've seen if the player was in full control of the ship when leaving/entering orbits. |

It's been played for a few days now by a few people and already they reached the centre of the Universe but none will give spoilers and I'm glad they wont. I do think however what they got is some kind of review copy and not the actual game. I don't know if there will be any special prices next weeks by shops or supermarkets but I think watching some of this gameplay footage by actual players might help me in deciding whether to buy it or not or just wait a week and see what everyone thinks and see what you all think.

My theory is that this item which helps you reach the centre of the universe quickly is exclusive to pre-release copies for reviewers, and there will be a day 1 patch that will get rid of this item, making it a lot longer for the rest of us to get to the centre. I think the devs had to put something in there so reviewers could get to the centre of the universe and factor that element of the game into their review - which they had to have done really, otherwise it's not really a full review. |

Why is it essential for reviewers to get to the centre unless they plan on spoiling that in reviews?
