It’s a Day 0 patch, not a magic spell.

This game will be £3.95 on Steam by December, but I reckon Sony will hold out as long as possible before they discount it.
Shouldn't matter to you what it'll be priced Mr I'm-Never-Going-To-Play-It

"Pure Playstation" has broken the review embargo (4am BST tomorrow morning), reviewed the unpatched version and given it 8 out of 10 - http://pureplaystation.com/review-no...y-ps4/2016/08/

Bit disappointed by the streams I've watched. Gameplay mostly consists of shooting rocks on planets that have nothing interesting to see other than foliage and wildlife. Then you fly to a station - all of which look the same inside - to sell your stuff to one of a handful of NPC variations. Definitely going to wait a while for reviews and player experiences - and a price drop - before I consider buying.

I've been trying to avoid spoilers but I've always seen this game as a relaxation tool with light gameplay mechanics sprinkled on top.

A procedurally generated, frothy, slow, relaxing, resource gathering, exploration time-sink with procedurally generated planets.

Wandering around endless space, exploring and just fannying about will be the meat and potatoes here, I think, and anything else will be a nice bonus.
I'm expecting the dogfights, the combat and trading and so on will all be a bit thin and pony and just garnish, though I'd love to be proven wrong.

From what I've seen, the game gives off a lonely, melancholic vibe which I think you have to relax into to enjoy.

Around the time that the hype started, I think a lot of the internet saw "the elder scrolls: in space!" and got very excited.

So long as you know what you're getting into and temper your expectations accordingly, I think this'll be a fun game.

Waiting for confirmation of an FOV slider on the pc version before pulling the trigger, even if I stood out in the garden with a wireless pad and looked in through the window, I couldn't play with the default setting for longer than 5 minutes without chucking my dinner up the wall. What is it, 45 degrees horizontal or something? Ridiculous.

From what I read elsewhere it looks like reviewers are not receiving there review copies until today.

Yeah, there's a review embargo in place and Sean Murray of hello games even tweeted, encouraging reviewers to wait for the day one patch.

https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status...344?lang=en-gb

If you are reviewing/playing our game without our update, on a leaked copy, then please don't. It's not what players will experience.
From "pure playstations" "review policy" page

All reviews carried out by Pure PlayStation are published after a thorough play through, maybe even two.
and sometimes churned out as quickly as possible before the review embargo is lifted, on a pre-patched copy sold to us by an unscrupulous retailer prepared to ignore release dates for dem sweeeet sweeeet hits.

I think a lot of people will buy this game because of the hype surrounding it and not fully realising what sort of game this is, so I'm expecting a lot to be disappointed.

Personally I love the idea of just travelling through space, exploring planets and surviving the harsh environments. I can finally be a space pirate

I grew up playing Elite and I just loved flying around on that game even though the graphics weren't that good back then.

My local games shop had plenty on the shelves today for £49.99 but I feel that is a bit too much. £35 is the most I'll pay.

£50 for any game is too much for me, £40 is the max I will go up to.

They shouldn't have, the official street date in the UK is Wednesday 10th August. Are they just display cases or are they actually selling copies though?

£35 is my max amount.

They are selling them. I've often got games from there a few days before the street date but I just thought £50 was a bit much, if it had been £40 I might have stretched to it but I'm gonna wait till the end of the week because I think there might just be some decent deals this week if they hype does indeed continue to build as the week goes on.

I'm tempted to go digital and get it for £43 via CD Keys credit but still undecided. It would be cheaper to get it off the US store but CD Keys never have US PSN cards in stock

I don't pay full price for games too often but I can see this game lasting ages so it might be worth it.

I rarely pay full price for games, but a penny under fifty quid is way too much. I suspect the price on this game will drop fairly fast so I'll get it when it hits £30 or thereabouts.

Because the UK is exceptionally sucessful at games creation, with Guildford, Surrey in particular being a hotspot. No Man's Sky is created there by a small, independent developer and has potential to be a massive global hit in a multi-billion earning industry.

Successes like this are driving foreign investment in the UK. In a time where the country is facing economic uncertainty in the wake of Brexit, the BBC thinks that's news worthy. I agree.

I watched the piece, had no idea Guildford was such a hotbed of Game development studios with Hello Games, Media Molecule and more being situated there. Brilliant work from British Game developers.

Love this post, just reading your words relaxed me and you've made me want to play this game more than any review ever could. Your final paragraph was somewhat disturbing, that field of view would be horrendous, throwing out any hope of a relaxing gaming session, in favour of the projectile vomiting you touched upon.

I'd love to make games. We should all chip in and make a game together. What a game about a Scottish Highland Warrior that enters a time portal and ends up in Glasgow 2016 and he has to learn to adapt to society and learn about the television and the McDonalds and he loves cheeseburgers.

Yay. Then we can spend the rest of lives being told by the Internet that we are shit at our job and that the project we dedicated the last 3 years of our lives to is worthless because someone broke a street date, or made a day one patch. Sounds fun.

I personally believe a Scottish Highland Warrior would fit right at home in Glasgow 2016

There's no FOV option for PS4 at present, don't know about PC. They really need to implement one though.

The way they warp the ship large distances feels like a loading screen to me. You're literally sat looking at a sort of spiral effect for some length of time. Maybe it's not as annoying when actually playing the game but when watching gameplay videos I found it a little nauseating.
