How do you backup numbers etc on a Nokia lumia ? I lost my numbers 6 months ago when it went in for a warranty repair.

I use My Phone Explorer when I had a Symbian Nokia, also used on my 2 x Samsung, Sony Erricson and now my Nexus 5. I dare say it should work with Windows phone.

Can back up numbers, calls etc

People will say why don't I just use Google to back up, reason MYPhoneExplorer also saves copies of my texts

This is a PC or Mac programme, easy to use. Main reason I use is because I can save text messages I don't wish deleting, but also backs uo numbers etc

If you have a Google Gmail account you can back-up your contacts on there and if you change your phone or wipe it as soon as you log-in and connect to your Google account it will automatic put your contacts back on your phone that's what i use.

Windows Phone automatically syncs your contacts and text messages to your Microsoft account in the cloud.

When you got your phone back, did you sign in with the same Microsoft account? Your phone should have automatically pulled them down from the cloud again. It's really quite seamless for both contacts and text messages and works when you buy a new phone too.

thats interesting. The trouble is if I connect my phone to the computer it automatically starts to charge it, and this is what I did when I started having problems which ended with me giving it back to o2 as it as good as stopped charging altogether. It's fine now, but they never told me what had been wrong with it in the first place, so I'm reluctant to connect it to the computer again.

That is true for Android phones. It can be true if you set your new contacts to be added as GMail contacts, by default a Windows Phone will naturally sync to your Microsoft account.
