It would be shocking if Chile finished ahead of Spain or Netherlands in this group. I don't think it will happen.
Not so sure about that now.

A Crystal Palace captain leading a team out at the World Cup.

Go get 'em Jedi.
I'd love him to have a storming tournament... although perhaps not too storming that we end up losing him to a bigger club!

Hopefully Chile are as fun and attacking as I've heard they are. If they win this match well that sets up for a pair of great encounters between them and the Dutch and Spanish.

I doubt it, no chance they get anything from Spain or Holland. Anything but a Chile win gets Spain off the hook big time.
Well, the shot they would have would depend on Spain remaining as bad as they were tonight. I guess it's much more likely that they'll pull themselves together. If they don't, they might not win a game. And if Australia beat Chile in that scenario, that sets them up for a real chance.

That's all fairly unlikely though, but on a night like this one can dream!

At first, I really wanted Australia to get a point out of this group just to plant their stake in the horrendous group, but now, I really don't want that to happen because of Chile's chance of knocking Spain out. It's a shame. Nothing personal, Australia.

Can't see many people watching Ivory Coast v Japan... although I'm determined to do it as I've always really supported Ivory Coast.
I'll be up, it's great being a night owl and I never miss a match.

Wish they were all on the BBC. They are putting ITV to shame so far this year. Adrian Chiles was a calamity last night.

Haven't been watching this build-up but I was very impressed with Henry and Ferdinand. Shearer was decent too but he's a more known quantity. Is Strachen on? He's usually decent.

Henry was a revelation, he had loads of interesting things to say.

Strachan is in rotation with Dixon and Hoddle, so he'll pop up every so often, I think.

Hmm, not keen on either ITV or 5 Live commentators for this one.

Reminds me of 2002 where we played Brazil at 7:30am. An unofficial late start for everyone that day. Memories!
