Agreed.

And aside from the 1st 30 minutes the Chile attack hasn't been great either, they get a great position and then pass to someone 3 feet away but heavily marked.
They can't cope with a big physical athletic team.

Spain don't feel well placed to take advantage of Chile's weaknesses though.

Very true. You could see the Germans creating havoc for the Chileans.

Edit: Brazil would too should Chile meet them in knockout round.

That wasn't really deserved and 3-1 is pretty flattering to Chile

Another entertaining match and a nice contrast of styles. This has been a great World Cup so far. Chile looked brilliant for 25 minutes but the Aussies did well to impose their physicality. They lack quality but they won't be an easy game. Chile are a fun watch but have a tendency to overplay.

Nice finish to end the game though.

True. 3-1 doesn't reflect the way this game has gone.

Chile started well, ended well. Between.....hmmm.

Aussies deserved something from that game.

Unlucky aussies.

Chile do have a good attack but they have looked more like a dark donkeys than horses in this match....

Aussies didn't disgrace themselves as some thought they might.

Another good game. Australia can count themselves a tad unlucky overall.

Great goal, shame for the Socceroos, they worked hard to try and get themselves something from this game.

Get your tablet out and stream it on Sky Go!!
You can watch it full screen on the iPad without black borders, which is an advantage over ITV Player.

Enjoyed that. Very even after it looked worryingly unlikely in the first 15 minutes.

On to group C.

Hmmm Chile were great in places, but the Aussies played really well, think they'll give it all they can against both Holland and Spain. I think Spain might worry that how well Australia did play

Aussies didn't disgrace themselves as some thought they might.
Indeed, and I fully admit I put myself firmly in that category as it really looked like they were going to get slaughtered after they went 2-0 down in the opening quarter-hour.

Very odd, though, how Chile just drifted off after that and barely created anything; seemingly they thought they would just score at will and allowed Australia back into it with Cahill's goal, and for a period at the beginning of that second half the Aussies were the better side and created the better chances.

The Chilean defence looks lightweight to say the least and the Spanish may well put them to the sword if they do produce a reaction to tonight's thrashing and go out all guns blazing.

Certainly on the basis of what we've seen tonight, Group B could be the most volatile of all the first round groups.

Worth also reflecting on the fact that we've seen two fantastic matches tonight with goals a plenty, and I have to say I struggle to remember a World Cup starting in quite as pulsating a fashion as this one.
