Hollyoaks has SHAMELESSLY been outright copying EastEnders stories in the last year so much that surely it is a breach of copyright!

So many stories, some of which are copying EastEnders literally scene for scene!!

It's complete copyright infringement!!

Anyone else find this utterly shocking?!

STORIES COPIED:

Carmel running away with Jim, but a crowd separates them and as Jim is walking towards her, he gets stabbed and dies. - Literally almost scene for scene like Sharron and Dennis when he died.

Mercedes, Lindsay, Cindy kill browning and cover it up. - Zoe, Chrissy, Sam kill Den anyone?

Patrick (controlling father) trying to keep his (troubled) daughter Sienna away from her child that she was separated from when she was younger, then that said child comes back to find her mother, but Sienna doesn't believe her daughter when she tells her the truth. - Archie/Ronnie/Danielle!

* Feel free to mention more of EastEnders' stories copied by Hollyoaks!

I find the price of corned beef more shocking.

Used to be a poor man's grub option.

Coronation Street in the 1987 had a fire in the Rovers. EastEnders had one in the Vic in 2010. Both had characters screaming, CORRIE INVENTED THAT!! Now all the soaps are doing it, you can always predict that if soaps show a fire the characters involved will be screaming.

THIS IS FAR DIFFERENT! This is Hollyoaks copying so many of EastEnders stories VERY CLEARLY in the space of one year! I just can't believe there is not a lot of outrage about this.

Instead of just saying it, why not give some specific examples?

Otherwise it's just a baseless statement and quite a spurious one at that.

Outrage? Over a TV show?

Who exactly is it doing any harm to, anyway? The focus of the storytelling should be on how it affects the characters you know, not just the events themselves. Ronnie and Sienna are two different people, and despite the similarity of their circumstances, the events will affect them in different ways.

Emmerdale had a baby swap storyline before Eastenders. Using the OP's logic Emmerdale should have the lawyers building a case against Eastenders..

Jims death was nearly the exact same as Dennis Rickmans death from years ago.

Examples given above in OP now. I can't remember all of them off the top of my head, but I've read lot of examples from other posters on here who have noticed too and voiced their annoyance. I'll do more investigating and add them to the OP when I have more time and if anyone wants to point out other stories copied here, they are free to do so.

Big sister Leela is actually younger sister Peri's secret biological mother, who gave birth to at a really young age, but her Leela's mother and father raised Peri as their daughter instead. - Kat and Zoe story!

Most long lost child trying to find their mother would also include the grandparent being the one getting rid of the baby. It's not unique to Eastenders.

Neighbours has that storyline going on now (Home and away did it in the past with Belle, Amanda and Amanda's mother), Lauren being told by her mother that her baby died when she was actually put it up for a adoption, now Lauren and Brad are trying to find the daughter.

And if you watched today's E4 HOs, you would have seen Nico turn on Sienna after Sienna told her she would never want a daughter like her. I don't think that follows Eastenders storyline.

Fact is there are now very few original storylines and of course soaps will do the same things.

There are currently 3 'who done it storylines?' with EE/LUCY, HOs/Frasier (who no-one cares about) and Neighbours Kate and Corrie is also doing a murder storyline.

Soaps copy each other.

It was a few years back now. After Laurel and Ashley's baby died, they discovered that there had been a mix up at the hospital and their real son was actually living with another family in the village! I seem to remember Neighbours doing a similar story too only it involved two teenage girls finding out they'd been switched at birth.

I don't think enough people watch Hollyoaks for a lawsuit to be worthwhile.

The Brookside producers should be building a case against all the soaps in that case. They got ripped off by every one of them.

There's no such thing as plagiarism in soap land. It's natural they all borrow concepts from each other.

Frankie had the same storyline three years ago - her parents took her baby off her, told her it was dead when really it was adopted, and when she found out the truth, it was too late, he was dead. Obviously never got featured on though.

Yet it still won best soap at the soap awards over Eastenders and Coronation Street.

Also the Nico Sienna storyline is completely different to the Eastenders one. Nico has turned on Sienna and it looks like Sienna is gonna get locked up now, so she'll be the one suffering not Nico dying.

I really don't think Hollyoaks are copying Eastenders' storylines. Soaps have similar storylines all the time, especially when it comes to affairs and murders.

I'm no lawyer but I don't think you'll find there will be any copyright on storylines of soaps.
