The pass and header combination was special but it's bound to be bettered. It's very early days. Sorry to hijack the thread, but IIRC, I think it took until the third place match in the last world cup before a team that didn't score first won the match. Already we've had that in 2 out of 3. Looking forward to loads of goals this tourny, helped by the fact the refs seem to have been sniffing their aerosols.....

This tournament seems to be very much more of an attacking one, with teams more concerned with scoring goals, than conceding them, which is great for the viewing public.

And yeah RvP's goal is the best so far, and will take some beating.

You just saw the Van Persie goal, got excited, couldn't control yourself and started the thread on day two.

It was still a contender for goal of the tournament. Maybe this thread could be used all of the way through this World Cup and any mentioned goals put in a poll at the end?

Robben's goal was class. Such incredible cool and control of the ball.

Marcelo's goal wasn't bad either

So far it has to be the Van Persie header, it was a brilliant goal, though i'm sure it will be bettered before the tournament ends.

I agree with Van Persie's goal. But if Arjen Robben's volley had gone in that would've been a contender too!

I actually preferred Robben's when he outpaced the defence to Van Persie's header. As others have said though, I think there's a very good chance that the goal of the tournament is yet to be scored.

RVP's header but Robben's solo run was excellent as well.

Why not though? We've already had four matches and a load of goals.

Yeah but you can't declare a goal as the best until you've seen them all.

If Frances second goal had not been an own goal, that for me would have been up there with the best. Great pass, and great skill by Benzema. France certainly do look a very good side.

Tim Cahill's goal today deserves its own thread, never mind a thread bump.

Tim Cahills goal deserves its own sub forum

Although Chile's first is a great contender for best team goal if there was such a thing

I'd be surprised if Cahill's gets bettered.
