I know this is a WM thread, but this might be of interest in here:

On Easter Monday, Free Radio 80s broadcast a special documentary called 35 years of Tom Ross. The programme, narrated by Jasper Carrott, looked back on Tom's career of covering football for the various stations on the 1152AM and related FM frequencies in the West Midlands, which began in late March 1981. It's been uploaded to Audioboom here: https://audioboom.com/boos/4358834-35-years-of-tom-ross

Anyone who has an interest in football coverage or independent local radio in general will find this a fascinating listen, and even the most myopic of Aston Villa fans or commercial radio haters would find it hard not to warm to Tom's story and empathise with the way he has dealt with setbacks in his life.

Me also Westy2. I loved their weeknight shows on Midlands BBC via Radio Shropshire during the 1990s. Let's not be judge and jury though.

You have to fear the worst for them as it has gone this far.

I feel sorry for the colleagues over the years they worked with over the years.

Do hope its going to be innocent until guilty at least, but reading the Mirror's Facebook page, that isnt going to be the case!

On happier things, Mollie is back on air, as you are aware, but she's in a wheelchair apparantly, so a few hairy moments when she goes to the loo during music!

I was gobsmacked when I read it on the BBC website. I was never that keen on them, found them a bit smug, but my mom always used to listen to them and enjoy their shows.

I just hope we don't have trial by social media, though I guess we will.

Glad to hear Mollies back, she's entertaining!

That Facebook page makes incredibly depressing reading. It's clear that there's a worrying amount of people who indeed don't believe in innocence until proven guilty and will stupidly want the BBC closing as a result. You think DS Forums are bad......

Profoundly sad. I always enjoyed their WM late shows when I was passing through the area. If they are guilty though those memories will be worthless.

It is worrying though just how many people clearly have no regard for the basic principles of criminal justice and that the lynch mobs are still there, waiting for an excuse to leap into action.

As I said before, I feel sorry for their colleagues past & present.

(Malcolm Boyden used to work with Julie for instance.)

Remember Ed Doolan's interview from around the time Rolf Harris got sentenced.

That situation destroyed a lot of memories.

hey all,
just got this from Keiths page on facebook.
good news at last.

Hello, remember little ole me?
After suffering Trigeminal Neuralgia (severe face pain) for five years, I finally had my day at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where they knocked me out (that shut me up) and carried out a procedure to the nerve on the one side of my face. With just a little numbness (after three weeks) I'm fine and pain free...yay. I stood down from the show due to not knowing how severe the pain was going to be. Each day varied from mild to severe and fatigue made me worse. I do miss being on the radio and now, after my hospital jobby, I wouldn't mind doing a little more.....that's if you'd like me to ha! After 30 years doing something you love, and the feedback I got from you guys, it's hard to allow little old health reasons get in the way. Thank you for all your kind wishes and thoughts. You never know, I may return on a radio near you one day. Keith.

Listened to most of the council election coverage on WM in the early hours with Kathryn Stanczyszyn and the coverage was first class and also she was brilliant..They must make more room for her on WM.

Oops moment on Saturday brekky just( Its a Mollie Green show. What do you expect? Things to run smoothly! LOL)

Playing out the prerecorded sports bulletin when the theme to Hong Kong Phooey starts blasting out.

'I thought pre fade was on? John Platt's going to kill me!'

Dreadful RAJAR figures again .
Little wonder when the same topic is often covered by three or four presenters .
Does anyone think that six days of Mollie Green is too much .
It doesn't take too long before she gets on to the subject of animals .
OK for two hours a week but not twelve hours of propaganda .

Great to hear Malcolm Boyden on WM Saturday morning. It reminded me when WM was actually a really good and popular radio local station and when I listened to it far more than I do now.
