6 HOURS of him!

I agree that some of today's presenters are bad but what makes Him so good? The reason why people think he is good is because he has been a Dj for 50 years.

What are the audience figures for Radio WM now ? Who exactly are Sonny and Shay and what is their justification for being on a radio station I used listen to for the major part of the day ?

The only programme I can listen to is Paul Franks and the 6 o'clock evening football phone in and that is only made listenable because of the input and entertainment supplied by the general public / football supporters.Other than that Radio WM has completely alienated me from its airwaves.

So you think it's worse than 3/4 years ago? Have you listened to Iain Lee or Mollie Green if you do than you might start to think it is not so bad.

I agree about Sunny & Shay, they are terrible!

I'm not a fan of Iain Lee but Mollie Green should have got the afternoon slot and not Sunny and Shay, who sound as if they have wandered into the studio by mistake and just started rambling into the microphone.

Has anyone any idea of audience figures for the station ?

If people STILL don't like the schedule what do they think it should be and why did they win station of the year?

195,000 listeners according to the last quarterly Rajar figures, which is pretty poor really. Didn't they used to regularly top 400,000 ?

While admitting Ed Doolan was an exception, I would feel much happier hearing the voices of presenters on Radio WM who are actually from this region ( '' Danny Kelly ? '' whats all that about ? ) but having said that , there must surely be some people out there who are better broadcasters than Sunny and Shay or Shane O'Connor ?

Give Daz Hale more air time and prominence.

Shane O'Connor has lived in Walsall at some point.

You can't look at WM's best listening figures since 1970 and say they should have figures that high to do well. So how about we go back to the old schedule of Phil Upton, Joanne Malin and Ed Doolan if you don't like this one?

Daz Hale is ok but not great! How about Caroline Martin, Michelle Dawes, Mollie Green, Richard Wilford and Paul Franks.

When WM had over 400,000 Shane O'Connor was presenting the early breakfast show and had the best listening figures EVER (and still is) for that time of morning so he can't be that bad. You say WM needs better presenters but lots of people think Iain Lee is one of the best talk show presenters around.

As I no longer live in the West Midlands, I'm no longer a major listener to WM. I do however dip in and out online to find out what's going on back home.

I've got no issue with Danny Kelly. Yes he might not have a local accent but he's been on WM for some time now, knows the area well and is popular. I think he was a great choice for the phone in although he is missed on afternoons.

I don't understand why Sunny and Shay got the afternoon slot. Why employ two presenters at a time the BBC is supposed to be cutting costs? I honestly think you could cut the schedule down to 4 main programs for the day,

06:00 - 10:00 - Pete Morgan @ Breakfast
10:00 - 13:00 - Danny Kelly
13:00 - 16:00 Caroline Martin
16:00 - 19:00 Paul Franks

Obviously followed by Mark Forrest and the regional evening show. From what I've heard of Sunny and Shay they sound like complete amateurs and they shouldn't because from what I gather they've had a show on BBC London for some time now.

I also don't get this Chris Tarrant crap on over Christmas. Just focus on the good presenters WM have already got. I'm not a fan of Daz Hale but shove him on daytimes if other presenters want time off. You've got Mollie Green (albeit currently shared with CW and sometimes HW), Shane O'Connor (again shared with CW), Richard Wilford, Iain Lee (if he can be spared from 3CR), as well as Michelle Dawes who seems to be getting a more prominent role on the station.

If I'm honest I don't understand why WM won station of the year. It's OK, it does the job but it could be a lot better. Strip back the crap, get back to the issues that are affecting Brum and the Black Country, get people on the phones. If people want light hearted chat you've got Free, if they want music they've got heart, Smooth, Capital, Free and pretty much every other sodding station in the West Midlands.

You seem obsessed with Iain Lee.

A broadcaster who pinched and does a watered down version of Tommy Boyds Human Zoo, which appeared on Talksport Radio years ago.Its old hat.

Iain Lee is nasty, snidy and sarcastic, he twists what his callers say, totally out of context, to try to make them look silly. He's an opinionated numbskull who talks total nonsense during his mindnumbingly boring bouts of verbal diarrhoea.

My goodness, I feel better for getting that out of my system.

Who do I enjoy listening to? Pete Morgan, Danny Kelly, Caroline Martin, Richard Wilford and the presenter who I've warmed to in recent months, Mollie Green. I thought she was a bit soppy at first but I've learned that she's genuine.

BBC WM, get rid of Iain Lee, he's doing you no favours.

But small of the callers are funny. He should be opinionated.

He is, about 75% of the listeners hate him, but every week they tune in and get WM's listening figures up.

I don't think he coped it had did it better! I do like Tommy Boyd (IMO the best presenter in the history of radio) but I always thought that Tommy's style on the Human Zoo was a bit bland.

I agree, Birmingham and the Black Country is a big area, Birmingham is the second city
and BBC WM is the only station with Speech shows on. You can add Keith Middleton, Mike Taylor and Mark Regan to your list.

I think this should be the schedule

Monday - Friday
04:00 Michelle Dawes
06:00 Pete Morgan
09:00 Nick Abbot/Mark Regan - Try to get Nick if not Mark
12:00 Caroline Martin
14:00 Mollie Green
16:00 Paul Franks
19:00 Mark Forrest
22:00 Danny Kelly

Saturday
06:00 Shane O'Connor
09:00 as now

Sunday
06:00 Mike Taylor
09:00 Richard Wilford
11:00 Carl Chinn
13:00 as now

Don't know about presenting but I could see Lee being qualified for '' The Broadcaster who can get the most cheap laughs at the expense of others, with the least amount of effort '' award.

If you don't like him why don't you call him this afternoon and tell him instead of coming on here and moaning. Or are we a bit to scared for that?

I love these schedules .Can we have some more ?

Don't get upset again but you have missed Iain Lee off the Friday afternoon spot and although Carl Chinn did a fascinating and very popular local history programme on a Sunday on Radio WM and which they inexcusably dumped, I can't see him returning to the station

Lee won't like being left off your schedule on a Friday and you being his biggest fan.

This Kalidascope Tv, someone mentioned that Chinnie ought to do a show on there.

Just spotted a clip on Midlands Today of the Doolan Xmas show.

Be interested to see how much Ed takes part this year.

I didnt hear much of him on last years show ISTR.

Any idea which presenters took part?

Saw Franksy & Pete Morgan in the clip.

Out of a population of nearly 2 and 1/2 million people in Birmingham and the Black Country, the local Radio WM station can only pull in less than 200,000 listeners. Its shocking really, that's less than 10%. of the local population who can be bothered to tune in !

For an area with such a massive reach, it can't be the fault of listeners who are deserting this station in droves, although there are those who choose to put the blame at their door for moaning about the station but the responsibility of those that control the stations output and how out of touch they are with their listening audience.

In the meantime I will continue just to listen to the more than entertaining Football Phone In.

I'll have him as the cover presenter for the afternoon show. I don't think he will but there's always hope.

In the few years WM has had big talk show hosts like Iain Lee, James Whale, Simon Lederman and Adrian Goldberg so I hope there is a chance that Nick Abbot will get a go but I know it won't happen.

Nick did say that in the last few years he has been to Birmingham to cover some shows, does anyone know which station this was on and does he still do it?
