Just wondering if any existing DTR2100 users can answer a quick question please.

Having been forced off my heavily-modded Digifusion by the loss of its EPG broadcaster, and thus moved onto a TAP'd-up Toppy, I'm considering the new DTR2100, because of the integrated catch-up (and improved response over the 1000).

However, one thing that both my old boxes were/are able to do is rewind live TV properly, i.e. from now to the buffer start, without the need to have pressed the pause button first (I don't know if still true, but many boxes used to activate the buffer only once the pause button was pressed, thus meaning you could only rewind to the point of pause).

I can't see anything in the Youview manual that clarifies. I found a review on Amazon for the 1000 that indicates the (common?) firmware does incorporate instant buffering. I've found nothing on DS, though, which has always been my fave source of arcane knowledge!

Any advice? Thanks.

I will check a bit more but I have just turned on my T2100 and started watching a minute of tennis, after which I just hit rewind and it allows me to rewind to any point up to a minute ago when I first turned it on... I hope that is what you meant. I haven't touched the pause button. The only thing I can't answer at the minute is exactly how long the buffer stores...
The one thing I think people complain about and doesn't work is that if you hit record on a channel you are watching it only starts recording from the point you hit record not what is also in the buffer..

It appears to show up to two hours in the buffer but I haven't 100% confirmed that yet

Cheers folks, and thanks for the extra info about hitting record. I knew I had a second question, but it flew out of my head while I was typing the first!

Including buffer content in an ad hoc record has been one of the most useful features of the Toppy, so I'll miss that!

It has been raised as a needed feature so it may come at some point but as with most features I wouldn't hold your breath, although they are adding quite a few new members of staff so maybe in a few months when then are in we might start to see things being turned out a bit faster..... Maybe....
