What characters on the square do you sometimes forget are related?

Is it blood they share? A surname? Or even a common relative?

For example...

1. Ian Beale is Lexi Pearce's Uncle

2. Bianca and Sonia are nieces of Max Branning

3. Janet Mitchell is Lexi Pearce's Great Aunt

The Janet/Lexi one is weird.

Also Tina being Mick's Auntie not sister is weird to me.

Shirley being The grandmother of Lee Carter, who is only just a little less then half her age.

Amy Mitchell, Sonia Fowler and Oscar Branning are cousins.

Amy Mitchell's half brother is the son of her mother's first cousin.

Janet and William being Lola's aunt and uncle.

If Shirley and Phil ever get married it will be the best one ever. Phil would be Mick's step father, Ben would be her step-son and would be going out with her grandson (probably), Stan would be Phil's father-in-law, Tina his sister-in-law. If Dean gets with Stacey, Lily and would be Phil and Shirley's granddaughter...........

Tommy Moon and his siblings. Pick a sibling, any sibling.

Zoe is his half-sister and first cousin once removed.
The twins are his half siblings and third cousins once removed.
Scarlett is his half-sister and (if I've calculated this right) step second cousin once removed in law.

Bagsy Mo has an Aunt Sal-esque rant in a few years, after being asked to babysit once too many times. Maybe she could suddenly recall Alfie's sort of affair with his sister in law also. Oh and Tommy's step-mother kidnapped his second-cousin once removed.

Lucky Zoe had an abortion back in 2005 or Spencer's sibling-in-law would be Alfie's step-grandchild! (If Spencer and Vicki married and Kat and Alfie re-married.)

Rebecca has a first cousin once removed by the same name.

Kat and Bianca have a few common relatives (Jean Harris, Billy Harris and Joanne Harris,) plus Bianca's step daughter is the Aunt of Kat's first cousin twice removed.

It disturbed me slightly that some people seem to want Johnny and Dean (Uncle/Nephew) to sleep together.

I want them to get close, forcing Shirley to admit the truth. A better way for it to come out I think than her blurting it out in a drunken stupor.

The Lexi being Ian's niece one annoys me not once since her birth has it been acknowledged yet. Even Peter dating and subsequently moving in with Lola has never generated a mention of it. Peter is playing stepdad to his own cousin by dating her mother yet they never mention it. This will have to finally be acknowledged when Ben returns.

Not forgetting the fact that she has/had a three-quarter sibling.

Weird! I don't recall any other 'Rebeccas' in the show apart from Becca, Stacey's friend and are the Harris's related to Mo? Not sure i've heard of them. Isn't Jean a Slater, related to Charlie?

But Dean has shown no signs of being gay, so if they do go that route Nancy would be the better option.

The other Rebecca was Suzy Branning's daughter she appeared in 1996 at April's wedding she's Sonia's cousin and therefore Sonia's daughter Rebecca's first cousin once removed. Jean and Billy Harris are the unseen son and daughter of Big Mo they're also Pat's niece and nephew. Jean Slater (Stacey's mother) is a different person she's the widow of Charlie's nephew.

I don't remember the other Rebecca or that Mo had children other than Kat's mother so thanks for that.


Do you look all this stuff up or are you just extra vigilant while watching the show and have a great memory?

There are two Jean's. I posted a thread on here a few months ago and we came to the conclusion that Stacey was initially intended to be Mo's grandaughter via Jean, but they must have bailed at the last minute and decided that they wanted Stacey to be a Slater. That meant something of a retcon where Stacey became the granddaughter of the Aunt (Violet) that Kat stayed with when she was pregnant with Zoe. Given Sean's date of birth (Christmas 1983,) she, Charlie and Viv would have been running the risk that Jean and Brian would have showed up with a newborn Sean, while they were hiding a pregnant 13/14 year old in the house.

Aunt Jean (Mo's daughter) was last mentioned in July 2004 when Lynne left. Stacey arrived in November of that year.

Joanne is Mo's granddaughter from one of her other kids. She was mentioned a few times in 2002. Little Mo went to stay with her to help her out when she was ill. No one else offered as she only had glandular fever. Joanne and her unspecified family sent a sympathy card when Harry died, so it's possible that Big Mo has a few more great-grandchildren somewhere too.

It surprises me more that people want Johnny and Ben together as that one is an actual possibility and would ruin Shirley and Phil's inevitable reunion for me, you know with Shirley being Johnny's grandma and Phil, Ben's dad.

If Phil and Shirley were to marry that would make Ben and Johnny step-uncle and step-nephew. That's the same family connection Ricky and Bianca had and they went on to marry. Ricky's dad being married to Bianca's grandmother.

Nick Cotton and Jack Branning are step brothers. Jacks son James would have been the half sibling to Nicks future grandchild (if Ronnie's baby is Charlie's)

If Zoe hadn't aborted her baby (lets say it was a girl), Den would have been the father of Kat's granddaughter and Tommy's niece. She also would have been Sharon's adoptive half-sister and biological half-sister-in-law, Dennis and Michelle's biological half-sister and Denny's aunt.

Yes its weird to think Kat would be the grandmother of a 9 year old now, and that same 9 year old would have Sharon as a half-sister and Sharon is older than Kat.
