i have a iphone 5s which is having a strange issue, i use it for tethering to my computer

now the werid thing is when no charger/usb is plugged in i get 3bar signal and can smash down 20meg on the speedtest.net app.

when the charger/usb cable is plugged in the signal goes down to 1bar and the speed goes like a snail barely a meg

has anyone else noticed this problem with the 5s

Sounds like the mobile network you are on could be detecting that you're tethering and capping your speed as a result.

Not sure about the drop in signal though....

I am on three one plan 2010 with tethering included,

maybe i did not explain very well, i tether via wifi not using the usb.

I can not see the network capping me if they were it would be the same speed regardless of the charger being in or out.

but my problem is the signal drops when on charge, unplugged bang 3 bars and fast network speed i can not make it out its almost like the phone is getting interference the charger

does any one else notice this with their 5s

Could be you managed to short-circuit the mobile signal somehow. Did you try different locations to see if there is any system to it?

from full signal bars with no charger hitting 25meg speed

with charger bang 1 bar and slow speed of 1meg

think might have to give apple a call

A 5s will still be in warranty so take it to an Apple Store.

I've owned iphone for the last 4-5 years and I've never had any issues like that, got a iphone 5 on Three now, we also use it for tethering over wifi and have never had that problem. I'd say it was a hardware fault with the phone. Apple will swap it for a new one if it's still under warranty(should be?) and of course if the fault is indeed with the phone(which I think it is)

Let us know how you get on
