Simple question really.

I have to admit I'm conflicted. On one hand - The Name Of The Doctor gave some great closure for the character but on the other hand, a part of me is curious to see how her character would fare with Capaldi's Doctor, even if it's just for an episode.

I voted no.

I like River, I really do, but I feel her time on the show is done, and that "The Name of the Doctor" was good closure for a character with a timeline like her's. Don't ruin such a strong ending by bringing the character back just for the sake of it, otherwise the result would be something truly awful.

No. New fresh start for me. New characters needed. By the sounds of it apart from the first episode I have got my wish.

Voted Yes.

Although I appreciate her ending in The Name of the Doctor - great speech from 11 at the end - I think it would be interesting to see their dynamic. I suppose it depends on the story though but yeah I think it would be nice to see her again.

I wouldn't mind if River came back, but not immediately. I assumed Tasha Lem from Time of the Doctor was River, otherwise her and the Doctor's interaction didn't make much sense, but that is only an assumption.

Cant think of any reason why not!

I think River should be seen with as many Doctors as possible. That wouldn't stop Name of the Doctor from being her last farewell, in her own timeline.

In River's personal time line it would be before the events in Name of the Doctor. I like her character anyway and would want to see her back.

I voted yes because apart from the fact that I think she would have great chemistry with Capaldi, I feel that we have a piece of her story missing. In the library, river grandly described her emotional last day with the doctor watching the singing towers of derillium and Just because now we have seen something after that in her timeline dosen't make it any less of an important day in her life.

Lets not forget that If it was the library version of river in name of the doctor then it wasn't really river at all, just a fragmented echo of her consciousness. The real, actual river died in the library and her final meeting with the doctor prior to that was at derillium as she described, and as such it would be a shame to not see such a momentus occasion between the two realsed on screen when every other important part of her life has been.

All that, and also the fact that even though she never specifically said so, she always seemed to imply, in my opinion at least, that she had known multiple doctors, as in more than just two. seemed that way to me anyway.

Yes, of course she should meet The Doctor portrayed by John Hurt, the 12th Doctor

Reflecting on the episodes she's appeared in, I love Silence in The Library/Forest of the Dead, Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang and The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon. C21 Who at it's finest IMO. Also really like A Good Man Goes to War, Let's Kill Hitler! and the Angels Take Manhattan and The Wedding of River Song was enjoyable. Add the cameo in The Name of the Doctor which was beautifully played by Smith and Kingston, who had great rapport.

That's not a bad strike rate for me. But of course the caveat for any returning character is....if there is a strong enough concept and an interesting story to tell. If so....hell, yeah. Capaldi and Kingston interacting; that could be very appealing.

Although River has claimed to have seen all The Doctor's faces - does that include Doctors born out of the second regeneration cycle, with the Trenzalore death aborted?

Could actually be interesting to see River interact with a Doctor that is brand new to her.

No, never should she return, horrible smarmy slimy thing she was. we have moved on , 12 will not entertain someone like her.

I voted no,I really liked her as a character but her Story/Doctor was Matt, putting her with Capaldi doesn't really make sense story wise for me

I voted yes. I think tthe Twelfth Doctor should meet River Song. Most certainly he should. If only to explain how she got the Sonic Screwdriver she was using in the two part Library story.

Also, I would like her to mention that she is about to go to the Library. I feel that the character hasn't totally been given final closure yet.

Once that happens, I shall be satisfied that we've seen enough of her.

Yes i agree. I imagine her to say something on the lines of "Oh look at you, you have aged a bit somewhat." followed then by a GOOD story/arc. River herself stated to dr 10 in the library that she knows him in the future (or words to similar effect), so as i say a good story could work. I just hope they dont bring her in for the sake of it & have a really bad story like they have done with IMO the cybermen (mainly) resulting in some bad stories.

Not bothered!

I'd like them to hint that they're still sort of seeing each other, but she doesn't need to appear in too many stories. The Name of the Doctor was one ending too many - Silence in the Library was perfect as a send-off and a beginning both rolled into one, and thematically ideal for a character like River Song, and I think it was a mistake to keep fiddling.

I'd love her as a recurring character, though. No arc, no endings - just, "Hello sweetie," diaries, and on with the story! I love a story arc, but we've seen her life in such pedantic detail that it'd be nice to get back to S5 where she just turns up and fights aliens. Archeology would be good. Make her young, so we see an impressionable Dr. Song with a man who knows all about her life, and put her in some tombs.

Yes, in that I think the character of River should be important to the Doctor through several regenerations.

No, in that I don't ever want to see her again.

A hint that she 'might' be coming back.

Yes, yes, yes...for the first time we have a Doctor who's in the right age-range. Alex Kingstson is a lovely creature - but she's old enough to be Matt Smith's mum. Now we have a real grown up man for her bounce off (not literally, but with Moffat, you never know).

I think there's a big difference between "Should River Meet The 12th Doctor? " and "Would you like River to Meet The 12th Doctor? "

Should she? For me, no. Her story is done now. I think she had a lovely finale and I'm glad Moffat saw fit to give us a post-Library River to say a proper goodbye to.

Would I like her to? Hell, yes

I think she should, if only to give more credibility to her claims of meeting the Doctor when he was much older and also the claims of seeing many of his faces.

Trying her flirty stuff on 12 and having him completely shut her down should be worth a cameo alone

Also, you know, for the first time their relationship won't be an icky Mrs Robinson preying on someone half her age (looks wise) so might as well try it
