So he IS the 12th Doctor.

Or better known as the "War Doctor" and slotted between the 8th and 9th Doctors in the normal numerical ordering system that we know and love.

Okay, the 9th then and the others go forward a number. I really, really want to see John Hurt's Doctor again.

The numbers didn't change. He is simply referred to as "The War Doctor" by fans, "The Warrior" or "A Warrior" in the show. He is not a Doctor for the terms of Doctor Who. The numbering system stays the same.
