Phil Neville
He was only hired by the BBC because his brother works for Sky. Did they even try I'm out first? Woeful.

I have switched to listening to the game on the radio before I end up slitting my wrists.
The man is dire. |

He's not Mark Lawrenson, which is very much in his favour

I know it is not his fault but the voice !!! dear god in heavens did anyone not listen to him before giving him a key England game !!! It really is bad I don't think I can stand 90 minutes of him droning on !!! |

No, it's because he knows what he's talking about. I understand this may be an alien concept.

Lol just came on to start a post titled 'Arrrrrgh Phil Neville Cadence' .
He is speaking in staccato bursts with a hurried urgent tinge, 80% of the time he is limiting to three or four words or syllables (sometimes two) and he stresses the last word or syllable even when it splits up a word lol. It's driving me insane. When he does fire off a fuller sentence you can hear the increase in speed and he always ends up stressing the last word or syllable still. Also wierd pauses in the middle of a sentence or word. Or should I........say as an.......example he would likely......say int-ter-rupt....ing all split....up....it's very an.....noying A live example just......now he said....."he looks like the one.......(long pause)...that's going to unlock the door......(another long pause).....(indecipherable word) his dribbling......his speed one v one" NOOOOO! got to.......file a com........................plaint to the B..............BC............the commen........tator is.........driving me mad. |

If they knew he'd sound like this during a match he wouldn't be allowed near a mic.

Some of what hes saying is quite interesting and informative, unfortunately its only about 10% of it. The other 90% is drivel.
He needs to learn that sometimes less is more. |

He has a big contract with Dulux. Part of the staff training program. Helps teach that watching paint dry is actually quite interesting.

Dear god he had a shocker (even worse than Rooney and Baines) - did they not test him out before they took him to Brazil ?
His depressing monotone mumbling away in the background cast a real downer on the match. I'm sure Michael Owen loved it though. At last, someone who makes him look good.... (well, less bad). |

He was as bad at talking about England as he was playing for them.

It was mumblecore throughout. Makes Mark Lawrenson's deepy cynical remarks sound bearable.
