Don't know for certain but i would imagine it's unlikely. They are so small and difficult to de-bone. But they all melt down when cooked.

The bones in anchovies are so fine they dissolve as you cook - I chop some fillets and shove them in stews or sauces and have done for many many years - nobody has whinged or chocked on an anchovy bone yet. Himself says he hates anchovies - he eats them all the time

I've never seen them without bones, but they disappear anyway don't they... in fact the whole anchovy does when you cook it.

I've never used it myself, but I assume that anchovy paste would have no bones in?

I see. Thanks for the clarification.
Are you looking to use anchovies raw, is that the problem? Because I agree with everyone else, the whole thing disappears in cooking. Well, not so much if they're just laid on a pizza, but you can get round that by mashing them up ![]() I must say I am very squeamish about fish, cannot abide bones & skin, but I will happily consume anchovies in any shape or form. The bones are so fine as to be virtually non-existent. |

If you buy the brown, salty anchovy fillets that are cooked - either in a tin or in a jar and in oil - the bones are far more noticeable than in the white anchovies marinaded in oil and vinegar.

Of course you don't get boneless anchovies, how are you going to fillet one, let alone thousands?
