Well it's no wonder Pearce couldn't make head nor tail of the GLT replay!

Old JP not having one of his better nights in the comm box. It was quite clear that didn't go in just now. Martin Keown having to bail him out.

Is Jonathan Pearce actually at the stadium?

It's all a bit Alan Partridge from him.

To be fair I thought that was a goal as well.
It happened last night too, I just thought the same, it's the way the ball bounces into the side netting. You get that 'back of the net' shake

It reviewed both decisions -- nothing more.

Pearce making a mountain of a molehill. Maybe for his benefit it should have shown the goal decision.
Exactly. There were two GLT decisions. The first wasn't in. The second was.

The mistake was flashing up "no goal" on the screens around the stadium which just confused the players, the crowed and Pearce.

I'm sure the announcement of the World Cup final commentary pairing of Jonathan Pearce and Phil Neville will be welcomed by the majority of Digital Spy users...

Well...before now, we were all laughing at GLT being used even when balls were hitting the back of the net for goals.

Agreed, but the initial verdict from GLT shouldn't have shown, hence the confusion.
I guess it would've been valid if it had hit an offside forward (or his hand) and gone in so they've got to show then all if there's a of clarity.

Pearce is demonstrating why he's a fringe commentator.

The only thing missing for me is if the next time Pearce mentions the "controversy", Keown reminds him that he couldn't even tell which side of the post the ball had passed.

Unfortunately, that won't happen

Jonathan Pearce with all the nuance and understatement of a DJ at the waltzers.

I guess they need to tweak the software to say something like "not over the line", because it does confuse Jonathan so.

Cricket journos on twitter are trying to imagine how JP would cope with the DRS! It would be carnage.

Actually he seems to be highly thought of at the BBC, don't ask me why, he's appalling.

The French will be lucky to get out of this without a serious injury at this rate.

Phil is not available due to spraining his jaw by talking for 90 minutes non-stop last night.
