you can believe them if you want or look at every single google search result saying they unlocked.

Can't you borrow a sim for 30 seconds and check ?

which is why i'm asking if there is a way to physically check.
as it's impossible to tell if it's an O2 PAYG device or not.

you've made two posts to this thread but contributed nothing in relation to the question that was asked.

According to this thread, none of them are locked, even o2 ones.

well going by that link and a thread i looked at on XDA you can't tell without putting another sim card in.

Failing that maybe phone o2?

The Nexus 4 was never ever shipped locked on any network in the UK.

So it'll be unlocked.

There is no way to test it without trying a different SIM.

if you've read the thread here you'd see that i already stated that O2 said it was locked.

Well that only leaves you one option then doesn't it?

Just actually read the thread properly.

Chenks, stop being so uptight, you've had the answer at least 4 times now.

All Nexus 4's are unlocked,

You can't see if a phone is unlocked without a different network SIM.

no i have have NOT had the answers.
i got answers to questions i didn't ask.

finbaar was the only person to offer a solution to the question i asked.
the rest, including you, just gave responses that didn't answer the question.

feel free to bow out of this thread if you feel it is too uptight for you.

oh, and after some investigation, there are many ways to work this out without using another sim.
there are tools that will tell you if the bootloader is unlocked or not.

so i guess all you posters that said it's not possible should go away and educate themselves.

As I mentioned right here^, the answer is "You can't".

There is no way to test whether a Nexus 4 is unlocked. The only way to test it is to put a different network SIM card in.

But like everyone has said, it's meaningless because the Nexus 4 you have is unlocked.

Or is this not an answer you want to hear?

That's not the same thing.

A bootloader being unlocked and a phone being network unlocked are completely different things.

Do you really see that happening after being told multiple times the answer to information he was looking for rather then the question he was asking ?

you're saying the folks over at xda-developers are wrong then? as it is them that told me.
and i've confirmed that the nexus 4 i have is indeed locked to O2.

double confirmed when someone gave me a Three sim and it didn't work in the nexus 4.

so all you folk that said every nexus 4 is always unlocked
