Don't know about anyone else, but fed up with the affair storylines or characters sleeping around. We have had
*Peter and Tina having an affair, so him cheating on Carla
*Marcus and Todd having an affair, Marcus cheating on Maria
*Leanne sleeping with Kal, okay she isn't with Nick but she didn't wait long.
*Although different circumstances, the writers would had of had Anna sleeping with Phelan.
*Although not a sleazy affair, Dennis ran off with Gloria betraying Rita (before returning tail between legs).
*Sawfie stalking a vulnerable young girl to get her into bed.

Now coming up we are going to have
Spoiler

Sorry to sound like an old lady (no disrespect to old ladies) but this is just pathetic. Next Tim will be cheating on Sally with Anna or something.

shows that the writers have pretty much run out of ideas to keep us hooked.

The conclusion of the whole Peter/Tina thing was good but Gary is such a dull character it will be hard to care.

The writers are so damn lame and not to mention so uncreative and unproductive. Personally I think the constant wall to wall affairs are just a cop out for the people who make up the stories but have not a clue how to write normal conversation or dialogue.
Everything is in a such a constant state of hysteria with all the affairs and dishonesty that it makes it simple for the writers by allowing them to sprinkle around loads of cliches and soundbites that could as easily apply to somebody who has allowed a bath to overflow as to someone in the middle of a relationship breakdown.
No syntax, no perspective, no context, just a load of headless chickens squawking and lurching from one imminent disaster to another waiting for the sky to fall down.

it's got beyond tedious at the moment and it's hard to see any of the characters take a moment out to rise above the mundane and the permanent mania. They've lost all the personal intimacy altogether in my opinion and it doesn't look like it's coming back.

And Callum, don't worry about sounding like an old woman (or an old man) just let it rip, lol.
The only people who would argue with your statement are either not that interested in the show or v arrogant people who want to continue to be able to churn out their crap with the minimal effort necessary to maintain their over the top wage. The writers.
Also the amount of great lines and ideas the writers steal from this forum is actually shocking. Stealth plagiarism in fact.
We should be selling them ideas for how to improve the walking disaster that Corrie has turned into, so pay up if you're reading this.

It wouldn't be so bad if you could sense some real passion between the people having the affair. Some of the couples lack chemistry imo - Peter and Tina, and Leanne and Kal for instance.

Unbelievable affairs and personality transplants to facilitate them are Stuart Blackburn's trademark. His Emmerdale tenure was blighted by the same thing.

So true. Corrie is lamer than a two legged dog at the moment, and it will not get any better until Blackburn moves on to ruin another soap. Please not Emmerdale again though.

That was the moment I felt the writers had run out of ideas.

Exactly. Peter and Tina had nothing in common.

Too many affairs, too many lies, too many secrets. And very predictable that when they commit an affair one will end up pregnant, the other would moan -- 'I thought we were careful!'. Or the truth will out itself in public.

Excellent post Andrea, I agree completely.

This is the issue I think. They just write these terrible affair plots for the sake of it, not whether or not it will be good or the characters have anything in common. The Peter and Tina storyline is the worst offender and was just plain atrocious. Even the actors I think acknowledged how terrible it was.

It's a shame as if affairs are done well (and not too often ) they can be brilliant on soaps. Mike and Deirdre was a great story, and I thought Cindy and David Wicks were good together on EE.

Mike and Deidre was a classic and we still remember it all these years later.

Nowadays no sooner does one affair end another starts its like a treadmill SL.

Far too much prominence on relationships in general in Corrie the past few months, the only storyline I can think of that involves a family is the Windasses and urgh I can't even put my finger on what's not working there, because it is a genuinely good story with capable actors but the characters just aren't interesting or likeable enough.

Not being funny I mean I understand relationships are at the core of any show but it seemed for months we were watching just a borefest of Peter/Tina/Carla, Sophie/Maddeh, Maria/Todd/Marcus, Maria/Fiz/Tyrone, Steve/Michelle and Andrea/Lloyd with none of it being particularly good. It's picked up since Tina died, imo.

Sigh

There used to be "ordinary" life ie Derek's gnomes, but nowadays the writers just think sex, sex, sex. Sex can be good, writers, but there are other things in life really.
