Germany vs Portugal - ITV 5pm KO
Today is the day Ronaldo will make his debut in this year's world cup. It should be a close game.
Enjoy the match! |

It should be, but I think Germany will win. I hope Germany are as entertaining as they were at the last World Cup.

Will be an interesting game. A German victory is certainly not a foregone conclusion.

God, I hope Germany win just to wipe the smirk off Ronaldo's plastic face.

Group G is a bit like Group B and D, very very competitive, think this will be a tough match

One thing for sure, he is one of the best around at the moment. I think Germany will win today. Whilst Ronaldo can change the game, I think the Portugal team is a bit weak. I do expect Portugal to qualify for the next round though. |

The two teams I expect to qualify from this group. Germany should just edge it with the advantage in overall quality.

Whatever the result today, I think this is the tournament when it'll all unravel for Loew and Germany.
This whole "exciting young team" that has "loads of potential" and "plays exciting football" (the same phrases we always heard about Arsenal) isn't really washing anymore. Loew is squandering Germany's potential with his dodgy tactics (especially in semi-finals), poor defensive organisation and his team also has a weak mentality. I think a better manager (Hitzfeld or Heynckes) would have won something with this talented group by now. |

No, it's because he's a smug git who falls on the floor in agony if someone so much as breathes on him ![]() Also this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtRYeIBO-ko |

Was it because Ronaldo grabbed hold of Rooneys leg and made him stamp of the Portuguese player?

You mean like quite a lot of other footballers.

Was it because Ronaldo grabbed hold of Rooneys leg and made him stamp of the Portuguese player?I actually think Rooney was to blame for getting sent off, but that doesn't mean I liked Ronaldo winding Rooney up at the start of the match, or his wink to the manager. As a player I can respect him, but as a person I can't. I just don't like him. I'll be wanting Germany to win because I think they're a great team and good to watch. Also, Portugal have sort of been closer to rivals for England in my opinion, knocking us out on penalties a couple of times, whereas I see Germany as a team beyond England's level and our games against them have tended to be incredibly civil. |

Germany: Neuer; Boateng, Hummels, Mertesacker, Howedes; Khedira, Lahm (c); Ozil, Kroos, Gotze; Muller
Portugal: Patricio; Pereira, Pepe, Alves, Coentrao; Veloso, Moutinho, Meireles; Ronaldo (c), Almeida, Nani Germany going with a defence full of centre backs. Should be interesting. |

Germany should win this well enough. Portugal look decent but workmanlike bar Ronaldo, and who knows how fit he is? Germany have to deliver in this tournament after having promised so much in recent years.

ITV have put the Belgian flag by Patrick Viera's name instead of the French. Opps.
