Very lucky not to be punished for that!

What the hell was Rui Patricio doing there?

It was being poorly placed to receive the backpass which forced him to mess up his clearance and nearly present the Germans with a goal.

Merkel in attendance. Did anyone from the UK government go to the England game.

They were too busy trying to get selfies with Angelina Jolie in London.

Penalty!

The Germans don't have a star player like Pirlo or Ronaldo or Messi who could take on and decide a game single-handedly. They have a good team, they are physically very fit, they are highly motivated, they can score goals, but that's it. They don't have individual quality players. Low has been an absolute blessing for Germany and it's only due to his skills as a coach that they have consistently performed.
I like how you follow all that with "but that's it"

1-0 Germany

Yet another penalty in this World Cup where the keeper goes the right way but it's too accurately placed in the corner for him to keep it out.

A penalty is a big enough disadvantage giving him a red would ruin the game. Good refereeing.

I must be spoiled after Honduras last night, but that didn't look particularly penaltyish

I'm glad he wasn't sent off as a double punishment always seems too harsh.

Yes agree, too many of those last season in the English leagues.

Yeah, there were others around him too so a yellow was fair. Not something I say often, but Andy Townsend is spot on.
