Been looking forward to this all day and after 38 minutes it's effectively over as a competitive game.

It was violent conduct so a minimum of three games could be extended further.

A red card for that is a joke though make it a yellow.

Pepe really is a moron. Just as Portugal were finally applying a bit of pressure and threatening to pull one back, he effectively seals the game for Germany.

Complete liability.

Does that include the game you're sent off from and then 2 full games afterwards?

No, the ban comes into effect from the next game.

I really hope Ghana make it out of this group with Germany. Portugal and the US are two of my least favourite teams in International football.

Ronaldo's really good with a free role in a world class team.

Other than that ...

It was funny how Muller was holding his face like he was really hurt but but as soon as Pepe bent down he miraculously recovered and was jumping up to remonstrate at him.

Pepe was an idiot and deservedly sent off but Muller made a right meal of the initial challenge.

The intent makes it a red card offence.

Nah, he stuck his head in after the incident. Went out of his way to do it too and it probably looked worse for the ref from distance. Plus, his reputation probably preceded him because I know I believed that the initial incident was worse when I first saw it just because of who was involved.

Similarly to Spain this seems a tournament too far for a lot of this Portugal squad.

I know their normally get to quarter finals at least of tournaments but not based on this showing so far

Ghana and USA won't be pushovers, should be an interesting group.
