No closing ranks behind the pro / ex pro wall for Robbie - he tells it like he sees it and I think that's good.
Yes, he does make some daft comments as I'm not sure when he gets a thought, that he pauses before he lets it out.
But he was spot on with most observations both on Ghana's poor precision in the final third and the amazing defensive job that 4-5 of the US players performed.
He also spotted and commented on the US goalkeeper dropping his weight the wrong way as the Ghana striker hit his goal.
This is a bug bear of mine and something many top keepers do. I've been told by a coach friend of mine that teaching keepers to anticipate is a current coaching fad, as opposed to waiting until the ball has been struck before reacting.
The latter way, at least you'll have a 50/50 chance of going the right way while with the former, you may get it right and you'll look good but you are increasing the likelihood of missing balls which actually, if you'd stayed put, you might have saved and sometimes, easily.
Although everyone seems to only talk about Robert Green for that non save in South Africa, on this issue of when to move, I remember him making 2 fantastic saves in the friendly against Japan at Wembley before the tournament where the strikers were only yards away but Green waited and reacted to their strike, making 2 brilliant saves. If he'd moved before they has struck, he may have saved them but then again, he may not.
PS Overall, I think the commentaries on both sides have been good but I do wish they'd all stop going on about whether players had intent to foul or not. How do they know? Occasionally, we hear them say, 'he took a card for the team with that tackle', although even then, I'm not sure they can know exactly what was in a players' mind as things happen so fast and spontaneously much of the time.
